I have been walking 5 nights a week 3.3 miles and would like to continue next week while we are at OKW.

We have stayed at OKW NUMEROUS times and I have never been able to walk the path to DTD. I always stop where the sign says no trespassing!!

Can someone give me directions or a map where I may get my 3.3 or close to that walk in!!

thanks

The walkway begins right next to Building 55 in the South Point area. Just walk to the driveway in front of #55 and follow the cart path across the canal. There is a sign there indicating that it is the walkway to DD/SSR. The walkway is paved and follows the canal all the way to the golf bridge near SSR. You will not be on the golf cart path- although there are occasional maintenance vehicles using the walkway.

You will pass the Treehouse Villas along the way and will have a nice view of the final phase of SSR under construction.

Once you reach the bridge, continue on past the practice green (on the walkway) to the sidewalk that circles the DD parking lot along the lake. You will have a nice view of Congress Park at SSR on your way towards Cirque. It is .93 mile from Building 55 to Cirque, but you can continue on thru DD and then walk thru SSR on your way back to OKW - you should have no problem getting in 3.3 miles.

At one time, the walkway included a fitness trail with workout stations every 50 yards or so. Those were removed several years ago. The walkway is not lighted from the Treehouse Bridge to OKW, so I wouldn't suggest making the trip after dark.

Have a great stay at OKW and enjoy the walkway.

Thanks Doc. I will be sure to copy your post and take it with me.

It's a lovely walk.

We stayed at SSR but we added in the OKW Nature Trail (the walkway Doc is referring to) to get a little more time and distance in on our morning walks around SSR and DTD.

I recommend the entire loop, where you depart OKW, follow the Nature Trail to Cirque, thru the Westside to the MarketPlace, to Congress Park, Past the Paddock and the Springs to the Golf course bridge and back to the OKW Nature Trail to OKW. It sounds longer than what it really is, but at a fitness pace should take about 75 min. Wonderful in the mornings!

Have a great trip!! And congrats on your comittment to walking. The beauty of SSR and OKW inspired me to walk but I have no such inspiration at home! :rotfl:

Thanks for the added information on the walk!! I have a lovely lake here in town and it takes me 45 minutes to do the 3.3 mile walk!! I just hope I can stay motivated on vacation!!!

Are you on the lake in Wakefield?

Yes that walk at OKW is heavenly, I wish I was doing it now.
