Hi OKW folks...

Are the updates completed there yet? We will be in a one bed room villa at the end of May. It will be our first time staying at that resort. We always stay at our home SSR, but this time we thought we'd try something different.

Will have 4 people in our party. So, I think there will be much more room for us.
My mom and son will be staying in the living area... it looks like there is a twin and full size pull out beds, is that correct?

What are some fun things do to at that resort? All we know about is the neat pool. Is there a sandy beach at the pool? DS will be 4 and loves the sand... so it would be a fabulous thing!!

Thanks guys!
Jenny

Haven't heard anything for awhile, but I know there were nearly done a couple weeks ago.

You might not like it so much after you get there and have to live with them for a week. Check out this thread...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2607540

Oh man, that sucks! Especially since my mother in law will be coming who can be very critical. She wont say anything at the time but she'll go back and tell all her friends how crapy of a place we stayed at. Oh well, it is what it is. We wont be there much anyway.

Thanks for the tips!

Well, we hosted 5 family members (from nearly 70 to 3 years old), and they all LOVED the place. :)

I do not know about sand, but then it was the freezing cold December 2010 so we only got one day to swim there anyway...

They do give you a nice calendar of events for your stay; be sure to check it out so you can see all the activities they have (some free, some for a fee)!

Oh, and my aunt (the near 70 yo) was in love with the pull-out chair (twin sized pullout). She said it was SO comfy. She would have used the pull-out bed, but wanted to save it for me just in case DH's snoring drove me out of the bedroom.

:)We checked in last Sat. and the CM at Bell Services said the last villa was completed last week. Have fun!

Don't get me wrong, I still love OKW, but not so much the renovations.

There is a play area with sand kind of behind the main pool. Your little one should like it. Also, the Community Hall has neat activities for children too. Also bike rentals. You will love OKW. Don't forget about the ferry to Downtown Disney.

From what we saw on some utube videos we like the renos, but we will be done there in 2 weeks so we can see for ourselves. I'm going to reserve judgement until then.

there is no sand at the pool, but there is sand around the playground. There is a huge Sand pail kids can climb in and some other things I think. It's been awhile for us since our youngest is 14 now.

Jenny, the renovations are beautiful. Watch my video. I love OKW so much I have a hard time staying at other resorts. I always say "OKW is sultry, tropical and enchanting." Enjoy and Welcome Home!!!

Thanks for all the replies.
We too will wait until we are there to judge... but it's good to know these things a head of time so we aren't surprised.

I am excited about the sand areas!! Thanks for the tips on community hall and bike rentals.

We will be happy being at Disney no matter where we stay. We've been staying at SSR for the past 5yrs... so it will be different. We will also be staying at BWV for the second half of our trip.

Thanks again everybody!!

I totally agree! It is our favorite!

We're another family that really likes the renovations! I have to say that we're not too crazy about the new blinds in the living room though - they are somewhat of a pain to raise and lower.

Webmaster Doc posted a list of the top 25 timeshare resorts. Disney's Old Key West came in 9th!!! I love OKW!!! Have Fun!!!

Just got home last night:sad1::sad1::sad1: after an 8 night stay.

We were in building 55 and they had buildings 56 and 53 blocked off for exterior painting. We had a renovated studio and since it was our 2nd stay we really didn`t notice any real changes. Yes the bed spreads were different and the paint was fresh but all in all we were just as happy this year as we were last year.
