OKW 11/30 – 12/15 trip report.

Here is a mid vacation trip report while the coffee perks.

DW Lynn and I arrived on 11/30 after a great Turkey day with Family in ATL. We got to OKW at 9:00 AM with no expectation of a room being ready. We had requested no smoking and near Turtle Pond Pool. To our surprise we were offered a room in Bld 45 or 16. We chose Building 16 for a change of pace having gotten into Turtle Pond Rut. We like this area. Heck we like any room at OKW. Well as long as it is no smoking.

Drop the bags and off to Super Wal-Mart for supplies. Back to unpack put up or Christmas lights and off to the MK.

First part of the week the Parks were a little full (we are off season visitors) but getting better as the weeks progressed.

Weather is cool this morn in the 40’s for sure. Looks like a clear day.

Enjoyed Mission Space, really like Mickey’s Philharmagic.

Maybe some old stuff. Rental lockers at EC are obtained at the camera center.

Christmas lights area great, just a few up at OKW.

On 12/5 we did the ultimate tour with Len Testa and his BIL Rob. We currently hold the new record for a tour of the MK getting in 42 attractions in 10 hours. Visit TouringPlans.com for details of what Len has to offer. Len is associated with the Unofficial Guide, and his plans really work. I would highly recommend them for anyone who wants to get the most out of their visit. He can create customs plans. Visit his sight and see.

12/6 we went to the Mega Mouse meet and met several Guide Book authors and web site hosts. Lots of fun meeting these great folks and seeing their joy in sharing their love of Disney. Bob, author of the Unofficial Guide, Deb of AllEarsNet.com, Dave and Jennifer of Passporter, and many more, Thanks Native Texan for introducing us to many Dis folks.

Member updates are fun and you might get a prize. Annual meeting were good for us in that we felt DVC is in good hands and there is an effort to work for us the members.

With that said we also got a few more points at SSR. Let the vacations begin……

12/7 is here and only a week left. Looking forward to the DIS meet and an Illuminations Cruise this evening. It will be cold here folks. More Later

I forgot Wishes is great and the directions to the walking path has been very good for the morning run. Thanks Doc, looking for to teh meet today see ya all there at OKW dock at 2:00.

Thanks for the trip report, we're buried in snow in RI, it cheered me up to think of a warm place!

We were in Bldg 45 from 11/29 thru 12/02. We were also disappointed with the number of condos that were decorated. We brought friends with us, and I had told them ahead of time how neat it was that so many people decorated!

If you happened to take the boat to DD, you may have noticed our lights. Surprisingly enough... as few decorations as there were... the one right next to us was decorated, as well.

Enjoy the rest of your trip - you've got a cold morning this morning!

Thanks for the update and glad to hear all is going well. Congratulations on your SS add-on.:D

Thanks for an info crammed report! Looking forward to hearing even more.

I think it's still a little early for lots of lights at OKW. It's the actual Christmas Week when more "regular light folks" arrive. Of course, as time goes by, maybe more and more folks will start lighting up beginning at Thanksgiving. It does make it pretty.

Sounds like you are having a great time. Enjoy the rest of your vacation! Thank you for posting.:)

OKW has been at 98+% occupancy this week. Buses have still been good.

We have to head for MCO at 1:30 today, but will be there to see Danny and any other early birds before we meet the towncar.

The crowds have been the largest we've seen for this week in the past 5 years. It's nice to see the parks return to some normalcy!

I hope to see a few familiar faces/names this afternoon!

Thanks for the great report!

We were down this week two years ago and thought the crowds were more than we expected. Are you saying early December is not a good park time anymore? We are planning to do the first 10 days of December next year. Were there lots of Pop Warner kids around?

Thanks for the update Scott.........and congratulations on your add-on(SSR). Enjoy the rest of your trip.:D

You all are most welcome,

Beth we did see your lights and they were great. Walked around OKW last night and saw a few. It is neat and gives the place a home like feeling.

Off to the meet.

Thanks for the report.....it cheered me up here buried under too many inches of snow---and this cold whipping wind makes it worse ! Dreaming of OKW.........I have it as my desktop pic right now.

Thanks for the report! I love reading about the warmer weather - especially when we are in the middle of a snow storm up here!

(at least I am in my warm house, my DH is sitting outside at the Miami - Patriots game right now with the snow pouring on his head:tongue: )

..... but in '95 we were there the week of Thanksgiving plus the following Sunday,Monday & Tuesday. Crowds were small on Sunday, non-existant on Monday & Tuesday. Even with 9/11, war, economy, etc since then, we have never seen the parks as empty as we did in '95.
