Hubby and I are bringing a couple grandsons to Disney at the end of May. 1st time for us to stay as DVC members so I was curious which is the best resort for our first visit. We can get a 2 bdrm villa at OKW or a SSR 2 bdrm villa. How are they different as far as accommodations, living space, and preference on Disney property?

And what is the difference between a OKW 2 bdrm villa and OKW lockoff 2 bdrm villa?

TIA for all responses.

Hi Terry:wave: We own at SSR and OKW and like both of them very much. We would prefer OKW because that resort is somehow very special to us. Someone here will know all the info on square footage and that sort of thing, I think you'll find the OKW rooms are a bit bigger. Still with just 4 people in a 2 bedroom there should be plenty of space for everyone. The TS restaurant at OKW (Olivia's) is sort of a hidden gem, really good food and very casual. Probably the best thing SSR has going for it is its proximity to DS. We typically have a rental car so I can't really comment on Disney transportation around the property.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Someone will be along shortly with more details. :earsboy:

BTW, I see you once cruised on "The Big Red Boat." Most people I talk to have no recollection of a Disney affiliated cruise with Premier. :)

I own at both, and they are both great. OKW is definitely bigger square footage wise. A lock off villa will have its own entrance from the outside and one less closet in the second bedroom, because it can also be used as a studio with a small kitchenette. The kitchenette is absent in the "dedicated" 2BR as well as the door to the outside. Don't know the age of your grandsons, but you might prefer a dedicated unit if you choose OKW. SSR is beautiful as well. Both have buses and ferries for transportation. SSR has a better quick service option for food with more choices than the one at OKW. As the previous poster stated, with just four of you, space shouldn't be an issue at SSR. SSR is right across from Disney Springs which is nice. Either one will be great.

I own at OKW and prefer it's décor and the larger rooms. It is beautiful and has a laid back atmosphere. SSR has to much of a condo complex feel to it for me. Only advantage is the proximity to Downtown Disney.

OKW has very few buildings that have elevators. At SSR, all buildings have elevators. So if your grandsons are little, meaning strollers, diaper bags, etc., you may want to book SSR so you don't have to lug all that stuff up the stairs.

OKW villas are the largest on the property, in fact, of all DVC villas. You'll have a twin sleeper chair in the living room at OKW, but not at SSR. The porch at OKW is large with a large round table and four chairs around it. So you can serve a meal outside on the porch. SSR only has the narrow balcony with two chairs and a small side table.

As new DVC owners, have you found the DVC Forums here on the DIS? It is the area where the owners hang out. I would post your questions on the DVC Resorts forum
