We have a 2 bedroom villa booked at OKW for our January family vacation. We'll have Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle, and then our family of 6 (two year old will be in a crib.)
After reading the Boards (I've been lurking for some time :) ) I'm worried that we made the right decision in booking OKW and I'm looking for some reassurance.
Will we have enough room? Will the rooms be clean or in need of refurbishing? How is the transportation?
We picked OKW because of the quietness, size of the rooms, location and price. The other time we stayed we were at ADMu and we're very happy :thumbsup2
Thank you for your responses!:flower3:

Love OKW, great point value. Staying there this Dec, cann't wait.

Only three buildings at OKW have elevators, so count on using the stairs. OKW is soooo much better than the All Stars Family Suites. You'll have lots of room at OKW, more real beds (two queens in the second bedroom, one king in the master bedroom) plus one queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. You'll also have a love seat in the living room that a little one might have a bed made up on (you'll need to provide your own bedding - DVC won't provide any additional) if you need the extra space. The porch alone is worth it. Large round table with four chairs on the porch and you can sit out there to eat your breakfast or just to drink coffee or juice.

OKW is the oldest DVC resort, but we've never had any problems when we stayed there. And we have stayed there by ourselves or with family and friends on many occasions.

Based on your criteria, you should love OKW. I was just there last week, and didn't have any issues or problems. The 1-BR we had was clean and ready when we checked in at 10:30 am. It was a nice, quiet place to stay.

Everyone is different, but I for one absoutely love OKW. It is isolated and quiet, and has a very Florida feel to it (which ironically is unique as far as WDW resorts go).

Other highlights for us are:
- room space (largest of all DVC resorts)
- 'condo' style buildings
- beautiful grounds
- boat and walking path to SSR and DTD
- kids really like the pool slide

You should be aware that it can take a while to get to where you want to go if you are using the busses. Sometimes it can be frustrating... especially if you really need to get somewhere fast. Go into this your trip expecting this. I would suggest leaving a little earlier than normal, and you should be fine.

It is true that OKW is not new, and perhaps you could get a unit that is a bit rough around the edges. In fairness, you might see that anywhere that isn't brand new. Honestly, though, I really would not worry about it.

Good luck with your trip. OKW is fantastic.

I bumped my favorite thread in the mouseallanous section of DVC for you --
look for OKW lovers thread ,,,enjoy

We LOVE OKW, and in 20-30 stays there, we have only had one time with a room less than desireable quality as far as cleanliness is concerned.

The OKW 2 bedroom is larger than many average size homes, and includes a HUGE master bedroom with a two room master bath that includes a large corner Jacuzzi as well as a walk in shower and vanity sink. There is a King bed with a seperate TV and your own door to the deck from the Master.

There is also a full sized laundry room that can double as a bedroom for the baby, making a nice private quiet room. The kitchen/living room is huge and will include a round table that can seat 8 easily by using both the included dining chairs along with the 4 chairs from the deck. There is also a table on the deck, and it has a ceiling fan and lights for added outdoor living space. The kitchen has full sized appliances including a dishwasher and all cooking untensils. The full size fridge also has an ice maker. You will find all the conveniences of home here, and the blender is great for those late night drinks or ice cream malts. The second bedroom has two queen sized beds, a full bath with the toilet and tub/shower and sink vanity in one large room. If you have a dedicated 2 bedroom, you will have an extra walk-in closet in this room, plus an extra vanity sink across from the closet. If you have a lock off unit, there will be a kitchenette in that area. I love the decor with saltio tiles.

OKW may be the oldest resort but I really enjoy the space and room. There's a coziness about OKW that makes it seems like home.

Enjoy your visit!

OKW is one our favorites. We have stayed several times and never had a problem. The room has always been clean and well maintained. Have a great time!

We LOVE OKW-in fact I would stay there all the time, but the rest of the crew likes to try different things. But 3/4 of our stays are here. The atmosphere is wonderful, the grounds beautiful. The units are spacious and I've never had a problem with cleanliness (except anything my guys have done :goodvibes ). Have a wonderful trip-I think you'll really enjoy it!!!!

Thank you all for your great responses! I feel so much better about our choice and can't wait to be welcomed home
