OKW surprise ...... and one regret

My DW and I joined DVC last April at BWV. We took our first trip as DVCers to BWV last fall on our annual trip for our anniversary. Our second DVC stay was mid-Dec. at OKW. We have a small tradition of trying to buy some of the small paintings (if available) of the Disney resorts we stay at. We stayed in room 1413 at OKW (this room happens to overlook one of the holes on the golf course) and we bought a painting of OKW that we both really liked. It was a view of one of the buildings FROM the golf course. It was not until recently that we realized that not only was it a painting of the building we stayed in, but it was the "reverse" of the view from our room and we could see our balcony plain as day in the picture. This was a great surprise and made a wonderful DVC weekend during the holidays, even more special. I just wanted to share with everyone.

The one regret is that I did not know about this site before late last summer. I am sure had I known about all of you and could use youas a resource, I could have convinced my wife that we should buy in a LOT sooner. Anyway, THANKS FOR BEING HERE

I am glad that you found the DIS! Welcome Home!

We also bought into BWV, but I much prefer OKW. It is a beautiful resort.

Nice comments about the pictures ... glad to read your only regret is not finding this board sooner. I was afraid maybe you had a regret about OKW. We love OKW!

Could you tell me how you know in advance what building you will be in for October? I did not know this was possible. Thanks

Lisa

Great story! See OKW is extra-special.

Glad to hear you liked our "home".

Canigo--If you are staying in a 2 BR in 13, you will love it. If you are in a 1 BR, be aware that the bathroom can only be accessed from the master bedroom of that unit. Those early buildings did not have a seperate door to the bathroom from the laundry like the later buildings do.

We stayed in 13 once. We had requested the Turtle Pond area (as always) and were very unhappy when we found out we were going to be right out front in the busiest area.

But we were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was as quiet and peaceful as any other we've been in, with a nice view from the porch. The only difference from the "quiet" areas of OKW was that parking was a problem. When the parking in front of Conch Flats fills up, people park at those buildings.

Going to OKW May 19-30 and Dec 8-19 :)

We just spent a week in bldg 63, and the year before in bldg 11, which is obviously right near 13. Both areas are wonderful, within walking distance of main pool and HH. You won't be disappointed. :)
