OKW studio questions for a non-DVC member

We got a great deal on a studio at OKW. While we are Disney vets, we've never stayed in a DVC resort. I've been reading things about the towel/trash service. Does this include the studios only being changed every 4th day? We're only doing a 4 night/5 day stay. Is there anything else we should know about OKW as a DVC resort as opposed to standard Disney resorts?

It depends on how your room was booked- if you booked a regular reservation through Disney CRO then you will get daily maid serice- if you booked through a member on their points then you will only get service on the 4th day.

You will have a microwave as well as a fridge in your room along with some basic kitchen supplies.

Yes, with a stay made using DVC points, on your 4th day (count arrival as day 1) you will get fresh towels, soap, coffee and have your trash removed. You will not have linens replaced. You can purchase a full cleaning or wash linens yourself using the complimentary laundry rooms at each pool.

Housekeeping is the major difference in cash reservations thru DRC versus DVC reservations (except for the HUGE difference in a DVC rental cost thru a member).

The studios at OKW have 2 Queen beds as opposed to 1Q and a pull-out sofabed. We love OKW also for the launch to DTD as well. It sounds like you are a "cash" reservation so you would get mousekeeping service every day. If you purchased points from a DVC member then as already stated, you would get trash/towel service on the 4th day. I believe there is also a small sink in the kitchenette area as well as the microwave and small refrigerator.

OKW is a fun resort. The studios there are larger than the rooms at most deluxe resorts, though there is no daybed for a 5th guest. The boat to DTD is a great asset. I'd skip the counter service restaurant at the main pool unless you are desperate - mainly chicken nuggets and burgers. It's a pleasant ride to DTD where you can get better food at a number of counter service and table service locations.

Another nice feature of the studios at OKW is the generous balcony or patio area. Not as big as OKW 1 or 2 bedroom patios, but bigger than what you find at most other DVC or deluxe resorts.

We are OKW "owners" and absolutely love the place. Studios are huge. Parking is right at your front door, housekeeping comes in mid-week to replenish soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, do sheets/towels, etc. There are several pools on the property and it's a short walk anywhere...if it isn't, just hop the bus and you'll get where you're going in minutes.

Fun & free...take the boat shuttle from OKW to downtown Disney. It's a relaxing and scenic venture!
