OKW Studio over Thanksgiving

It looks like right now there is availability the week of Thanksgiving at OKW for a studio not near the HH. I know this is a busy DVC season but we are trying to conserve points and OKW appears to be the cheapest point-wise that week for us. We own at SSR so we would need to book at the 7 month mark. I know OKW is not one of the most popular resorts but with the holiday week do you think we will have an issue getting in at the 7 month mark for the Sunday before until the Saturday after Thanksgiving?

Be aware of the following. At 7 months out from the Sunday before Thanksgiivng on Nov 22, 2012, non-Hospitality House area studios were open for the week; by 7 months out from the Wednesday of that week both Wed and Thurs were gone. In 2013 when Thanksgiving was on Nov 28 and in 2014 when it was on Nov 27, both Thansgiving and Friday were gone at 7 months out from the Sunday before Thanksgiving. However, if you had reserved at 8 a.m. eastern at 7 months out from the Sat before Thanksgiving, you could have gotten all the nights through Friday night.

In other words you have some risk. That 2012 situation included that Thanksgiving was early and the end of that week did not run into the early December time, the highest demand time of the year, and thus your competition did not include those OKW owners who came for trips that may have included Thanksgivng and the day after as part of staying through the first week of Dec. However, in 2013 and 2014 Thanksgiving week ran into that early Dec time. 2015 may be somewhat in between as to how much competition you may get from those coming for both Thanksgivng and early Dec. Also, this may be one the rare times you might want to consider walking a 7 month reservation by reserving a trip that starts on the Sat or even Fri before Thanksgiving and book as many nights as you have the points for and then call daily and drop the first night and add a last night until you get Sun to Sat.
