OKW Room Request 1BDR?

Any suggestions on what building or area to request for a one BDR in OKW? This is our first trip through DVC and we are going from July 11-18th......first 2 nights at AKL and then OKW....reserved a one bedroom for my family (4, me, husband and 2 sons, ages 3 and 8).....

Is there a better area/building to request to be nearby the pool, transportation and the store/restaurant?

Also...what are the chances you will get your room/building request? Thanks so much....

We have never had a bad location at OKW. We do like the South Point area and Miller's Road area quiet pools though. If you think your children are young enough to enjoy the sand box at the main pool, you might want to be close to that. I like the smaller quiet pools for keeping track of kids better, and each has a small playground with it.

I am of the impression that general requests such as "near main pool" or in "Turtle Pond road area" are more likely to get you what you want than requesting specific buildings. If you want access to the main pool ask for something near "the hospitality house." If you want something more quiet with a smaller pool try the turtle pond road area - just be aware you'll have a 5-10 minute walk to the store and restaurant. Check the OKW map and you can see the buildings closest to the main reception area.
I once requested something in the loop containing buildings 23,24,25 and 26 for my daughter. They assigned her to building 62 which is close but not where I requested. It was just as good for all purposes. Close to the bus stop and main area. If you want a non-smoking unit be sure to request this. If you "do not" want a handicapped unit (bathrooms can be different - no tub) be sure to request this. Have a great vacation!
