Big thumbs up for our recent OKW stay. Had unit #2331 - really close to the Peninsular Road bus stop and the Hospitality House complex. Had a great view over one of the golf course holes and a pond with a water fountain. My sister and her kids (first timers) were very impressed with the size of the unit especially compared to BCV (ha ha - more validation for the OKW crowd :duck: ).

The unit was in very good shape - nice and clean, had one of the newer sleeper sofas - it was great - I was punted to it one night by DW and the 2 DS's who wanted to sleep in the king bed - I actually got a great nights sleep as the darn thing is really comfortable (especially compared to the BCV rollaway sofa - ok no more putting down BCV since it is one of my home resorts  ) Even the pillows were better at OKW!

The wait time for the buses was around 10-15 minutes which was quite fair in my opinion and the new pool slide at OKW is a great added feature. The CM's provided good service and had great attitudes. I still love getting the snappy welcome homes at the OKW front gate that I do not get at any of the other WDW DVC properties.

All in all a great trip and I rate the unit condition and functionality as an A (does not get A+ due to some very minor scratches, chips etc.). There was no paring knife in the kitchen and a call to housekeeping for one did not result in delivery of one despite the promise to do so.

Would be happy to stay at OKW again in the future as a 2nd choice to BCV - I can see us spending more time at OKW when the kids get older

any questions, let me know

cheers

Jaysue,
I agree about the great view here.....even though I've never stayed in bldg 23, we did have 62 and that is right across the big pond from where you were. We loved sitting out on our balcony and watching the ducks and all. It was also nice because it was the first bus drop at night coming home from the parks. BTW, did you notice if you were able to see Illuminations from your balcony/porch ? We had a terrific view----could only see the tops of the fireworks mind you, but we could actually hear the music too. Just wondering if you had a similar view.
Glad you had a great time. Thanks for the report ! :flower:

We were neighbors!
Just checked out of 2310 & 11. My favorite part was that we were a 30 second walk from the penninsular stop (1st on the route) and a 2 min. walk from the Hospitality house (last stop). So in the mornings, we'd sit on the patio and when we saw the bus we wanted go by, we'd all head out to the Hospitality House and had no wait at all. Then, at the end of the day, we'd get off at Penninsular. Bypassed all extra park stops and all waiting.

That's a great trick! We have done that when we stayed near the front too. It's easly to see the buses as they come in, by the time you get to HH it's there!

Thanks for the tip on the bus strategy

MiaSRN62, did not notice illuminations from the balcony as we did not even thinki of looking for it at 9pm - we did see it though in Epcot - always a great show!

misslauri, great location for you as well - so you were the happy person I said good morning to one day as I bounded up the stairs by your unit :cheer2:

Thanks so much for the room report. Glad you liked OKW. Was this a 2 BR unit?

We stayed in building 23 (can't remember the room #) our last visit and really liked the location. We are going back in a few weeks and have requested the same area. The bus stop location was great and we used the same strategy!

We were in 2325 a few weeks ago :) It was our first stay at OKW & we LOVED it!

This is my favorite building. I request it everytime I stay here. I love the first bus stop at the end of the night. We always stalk the buses and when the one we need passes by in the resort, we go over to the HH and catch it there. Not a long wait time. :flower:

:teeth: during my April visit, I came back several times at night, showed my parking pass and waved. On a few occassions, the older security guard started mouthing something at me, and then repeated it again. I rolled down the window and he said for a 3rd time 'Welcome Home!'

He was very definite that he was going to welcome me each time, and that I actually heard him.... I suppose that since the other DVC's except SSR are shared with cash paying resorts, one doesn't hear that at those resorts.

There is a female guard who works a lot at night; I think her name is Deb or Debbie. I just love her! She will even give you a little salute and I just get such a kick out of her. I am so darn HAPPY when we are at WDW that last time I just yelled to her "You are my favorite person at OKW!" and she looked a little shocked... Guess I could seem like a stalker... Oh, well. I can't help myself when I am at OKW! :)

Bus stalking - sounds like a new activity for the WDW list

After reading all of your positive comments, I can't wait for my first visit to OKW in 2 weeks!

"bus stalking"! :rotfl:
Good term, and we have used that tactic often when we have stayed near the front of the resort. Last October we were in building 15 in the GV. When we saw a bus come in for a park, we knew we had about 10 minutes to get everyone together and out the door. Then we had a choice about going to Miller's Road or HH to get on. If we had already seen the bus come in, we headed to HH. If we were running blind, we went to Miller's.

In December we were in 13, and we couldn't see the buses come into the resort, but we were only a few steps across the street from HH, so we could go to the waiting area, and when our park bus came in, we knew how long we had to shop, potty or schnoodle before it would get to HH.
