OKW Reservations

I am a new member, I just bought into DVC last week. I called
to make a reservation for January 2004. I was told that the room I wanted a 12 person suite was not available. She could book me for the 4, 6, 7th but I would need to be put on the waiting list for the 3rd, 5th and 8th. Does this happen alot, and what are my chances of getting a room.

It does happen a lot. Sometimes they come through, sometimes they don't.

Book the nights you can't get on cash and cancel them as the points waitlists come open. That way you can plan your trip and not worry. If the points don't come through you still have the reservation.

Of course, this all depends on if you REALLY need those dates and don't want to consider another time.

You need to plan at least at the 7 month booking window, especailly for the 3 bedroom GVs. We usually go in January, and if we are booking a GV, we book day by day at the 11 month booking window. With a sold out resort like OKW, the low point times it is very important to use the earliest time for booking that you can. While WDW is not so busy in January, the low points at DVC resorts make them quite busy at that time of year.

I would definately try for a studio plus a 2 bedroom. There are only 27 ( I think) GVs at OKW, but lots of 2 bedrooms and studios!

GV's seem to reserve very quickly since they're effectively houses and the ones at OKW seem most efficient person/point.

We wound up getting one 2BR and two studios for a group of 12 at OKW last December. That worked well since the adult pairs each had their own 'bedroom', the kids could wander and sleep where they wanted but we still had plenty of room in the 2BR for when everyone showed up for breakfast/dinner/my birthday cake etc.
