Hi, all.
As we await word on if we pass ROFR or not, I'm a little concerned about something.

We're hopefully buying @ OKW. Our purchase won't be finaly until mid-April. With the recent OKW extension offer ending 2/29, would it even be worth it to purchase it for $25/point. Also, if the person we're buying from already declined it, what does that do to us?
I'm thinking not only for extended ownership but also if we decide to sell it in 20-30 years, who would buy it for only 10 years or so?
Thanks for your help!!

if you do a search there have been several threads on whether it's worth it even at $15. you certainly won't get your $25 back if you resell any time soon...and trying to read the future gets pretty murky. but if it's worth it to you to spend $25 per point for something that won't benefit you for 25-35 years, knock yourself out...

To our surprise, we did decide to do the extension. We got it at $15 a point, but our reasoning was that with WDW selling all these new resorts, we wanted to stay at least competitive.

People buying timeshares already have a problem with the idea that they don't own DVC forever. So I could see that we could have problems selling 20 years from now if we didn't have the extension.

What are you paying for your contract? You can purchase OKW with the extended end date directly from Disney for $96/pt. You get a full set of current Use Year points with your purchase and your dues for 2008 are pro-rated from your purchase date. Unless your resale is priced below $71/pt, (keeping it below $96/pt with the $25/pt extension) this would be an expensive way to do it, assuming it will even be an option for you.

I didn't realize that the $96 per point included the extra years......
Goes to show how little I'm paying attention here:confused3
However, now that I do know, it makes for new options on add-on's. We loved OKW when we stayed there, and the points per night can't be beat, or the size of the rooms! I will keep this little tidbit of info in mind.....

Thanks!

This is exactly why we added on direct through Disney. I think OKW is the best value for the money and I LOVE the theme.
