I wonder if anyone could help. My family and I are staying at OKW on 13th October for weeks. First time staying at OKW and we are all very excited. I was thinking of emailing Disney with a preferred location. I wondered if anyone could help with the best spot in OKW. We are staying in a studio and my children are 3 and 9 so would like to be near a pool and not too far from hospitality.

Many thanks for your help.

:)

We loved turtle pond area - we were block 42 in a studio.

We were steps to the pool - largest of the 'quiet' pools and newly refurbished I believe. It was ideal for my DD who was 4 as there were lots of 3ft areas.

Next to the pool was a playpark and snack bar where you could get your refill mugs filled.

We went half term Oct 2010 and found there were a few British families in the pool each afternoon which was nice for my DD as she made a couple of 'friends'

There is a bus stop at turtle pond aswell.

It is probabaly 10 mins walk to Hospitality house from there.

It was lovely and peaceful - we would see squirrels etc as we walked to the room.

Have booked for Oct 2012 and will ask for turtle pond again.

Where ever you are you will love OKW :goodvibes

We stayed in building 62 last month and it was a fantastic location. About as close to HH as you can get, with a lovely view of the lake and golf course.

We check in on 19th oct and was wondering where would be best

We stayed in building 25 which was a few minutes walk over the bridge to the main pool etc.I have since found out that this is a "preferred area" reserved for DVC members but I think as we went in early December they must have had a few vacancies. Beautiful resort. You will love it.I have heard building 20 is also good .Just ask for a studio near hospitality house on a high floor.Unless you like lizards and creepy crawlies (like DD does) I would go for a higher floor. I would have a look at the OKW map of the building locations .My priority would be high floor and near a bus stop especially if your not driving. I will be there in 8 weeks:cool1::rotfl:

We like to be on Millers road around Blocks 19,20,21. Easy walk to HH and last call for the bus before leaving for the parks (obviously last drop after the parks)

Only thing I would say is requesting a room is very hit and miss, they totally ignored my requests last month and had to sort out on arrival.
Can't find their reply now(I must have deleted it) but it more or less said they don't accept room requests. Some have had success with fax(again some have been told they don't accept fax) others have had success with phoning.

If we were going alone I would not request anywhere, only as a group then we like to be all in the same area.

We like Miller's Road too. But I think you will be fine anywhere. We have not been granted requests either, except for the high floor once!

I wouldn't worry - you can always try to make changes at check-in if needed.

I think next year I will take my chances!

I had booked with wdw so just rang and added my preference which was turtle pond upper floor and got both.

We also booked direct with Disney, and phoned a month or so before arrival to request our preferred buildings. At check-in we were a little surprised but very happy to be allocated a room in our first choice building.

We really don't have a favourite area or building we've been staying there for over 10 years now and haven't had a bad location! :thumbsup2 Just wanted to let you know that the CMs and OKW do not look at FAX or e-mail requests. When you decide what your preferences are you need to have it noted on your booking! :goodvibes

Thank you everyone for your help. Much appreciated. So excited OKW looks great.

Many thanks x

:yay:

We stayed in building 41, right next to the pool in the Turtle Pond area last year - it was fantastic. The whole 'vibe' of OKW lends itself to a relaxing stay so you're onto a winner wherever you end up being located.

Due to buying into DVC we're hoping to stay at the Beach Club next year when we return, but to be honest, after that, we're probably going to end up back at OKW!

Have been at Millers Rd for that last 2 years (Block 21) :goodvibes
Nice quiet pool
Laundry room
Bus stop nearby

We were in Millers rd building 17 it suited us as we did not have a car ,a 3 minute walk to Hospitality House and main pool,a quick stroll to a lovely quiet pool, except for the day a group of Americans took over the whole pool as their personal play area:scared1:,but that only happened once in the two weeks we were there. We are hoping to be in Millers rd next year but more relaxed about location as my hubbie feels brave enough to drive this trip:banana:love OKW which suprised me as we loved GF but the space a one bedroom gives you is fab.
