hi all-
i am considering a trip in may and am thinking about okw.
i like the fact we'll have extra room. it is myslef, dh & ds-4yo. :love1:
2 questions-
what area to request for vieing fireworks or seeing epcots globe? this
would fascinate my son.
how is the transportation? is it ok from the resort of easier to make connections thru dtd?
our last stay was in a wl deluxe room and that got smaller as the days went on.
thanks all-

You are actually quite close to Epcot when you are at OKW, but because of trees etc, you can't really see Spaceship Earth. You can hear the fireworks from all the OKW buildings, and the ones up to about the middle of the resort can see the higher ones, but mostly you just see a glow from them and hear the noise.

Transportation from OKW is, in my opinion, excellent! We always use the buses, and the service here is very good. We rarely wait, and if we do it is never more than about 10 minutes. An exception to this would be the service from AK back to OKW. Those buses stop at Blizzard Beach, so it takes quite awhile , and the bus stop at AK is a bit of a hike for all resort buses. The other parks are great, though! At MK, the OKW bus stop is one of the closest to the park entrance, as it is at MGM and Epcot.

BTW, you will love the size of the studios at OKW, because your DS will have a full queen sized real bed to himself. There will be a small fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker in your room as well as a very large bathroom. It is MUCH larger than a WL deluxe room. We also felt cramped when we stayed there. I would suggest requesting a top floor, because you are likely to get a better view from a studio at that level. Most of the studios are on the outside corners of the buildings, and often their balcony is hemmed in with large plants if you are on the lower floors. The water and golf course views can be spectacular! I really like the "down and out" vacation home feel of the resort. It is less of a hotel, and you will have less noise because of it. DTD can be reached by water launch, bus or by foot path from the area behind building 55. WHile I said bus service to the parks was excellent, bus service between resorts connecting through DTD is not as good. It is for that reason that we usually rent a car. With Express service now available, I don't think there is a real need for a car unless you like to have evening dinner reservations at the other resorts like the Poly, AKL, or WL. Doing that in the evening requires a bit more transfer time if you are going through DTD.
