OKW Pool slide (12/24) - New Info - New Photos

Yes, I undestand that the slide is near the childrens play area and that area has large pails and shovels. It doesn't mean it fits in with the overall area (or looks attractive, for that matter). The slide is also near the rest rooms, so would it be appropriate if Disney made it look like a giant toilet? Then when someone complained about the size or appearance, others could say "have any of you walked around that area, it is right next to the rest rooms so it fits right in".

And I do not think there is anything wrong with making the slide look like a castle. I just don't think (judging by the pictures we have seen) that they made a very attractive castle. I am holding off final judgement until I see it in person, when it is completed. Maybe (I hope) that the landscaping and other work they do surrounding the slide will help. But from what I have seen so far, I do not consider it something that visually compliments the area.

Any new reports on the slide since the OP?

I thought the color of the children's sandcastles there was more white? This looks more beige? Yes, or no?

It does kinda look a bit like a blob, but really I'll wait until I see it to make a final judgment. Regardless, my oldest is excited about it and that is what matters most to me! I do think the fiber optics sounds nice.

In person, the sand castle has a pinkish beige hue, almost like the pink buildings that are nearby. That surprised me, because I always think of beach sand as being more yellow. Of course, real beach sand comes in all sorts of hues, so the color of the castle is a perfectly good sand color. And the pinkish hue was probably picked on to fit in with the OKW colors.

The sand castle will look better when it's completely painted.

Also, there are a lot of trees and palms around the OKW feature pool, so the sand castle is partially covered from many angles. Caskbill did a great job finding angles where you can see the sand castle clearly, but that doesn't mean that it's out in the open.

yay! i'm just exsited there'll be a slide now @ OKW we've been staying there for years as you can see in my sig. but we've never been a fan of the pool area...we usually just all squeeze into the jacuzzi in the villa and make frozen drinks :Pinkbounc

I'm looking forward to using the slide in the future. We seldom used the main pool preferring the closeness of the quiet pools. It'll give us a reason to head over there instead of just going on the day we leave.

The photos look great. We will be there Saturday. I am still crossing my fingers that we will get to use the slide at least once before we leave!
