Yes, I undestand that the slide is near the childrens play area and that area has large pails and shovels. It doesn't mean it fits in with the overall area (or looks attractive, for that matter). The slide is also near the rest rooms, so would it be appropriate if Disney made it look like a giant toilet? Then when someone complained about the size or appearance, others could say "have any of you walked around that area, it is right next to the rest rooms so it fits right in".
And I do not think there is anything wrong with making the slide look like a castle. I just don't think (judging by the pictures we have seen) that they made a very attractive castle. I am holding off final judgement until I see it in person, when it is completed. Maybe (I hope) that the landscaping and other work they do surrounding the slide will help. But from what I have seen so far, I do not consider it something that visually compliments the area.
