OKW owner's odds for June BCV Studio

I am preplanning my vacation for May/June 2004. As an OKW owner I will plan to get a 7 day reservation at OKW as early as I reasonably can. However, we would like to get three days at BCV in a studio for either the start or end of our trip. So, when the 7 month window opens, I will attempt to transfer 3 nights to BCV studio. The other 4 days are to be in an OKW 1 bedroom.

The travel dates will be Friday, May 28 to Thursday night's stay, Jun 3, 2004. Would we expect to have a better chance go for the BCV on the Fri - Sun at the start or the Tues - Thur at the end?

Personally, I would rather move up rather than down in room size if we can.

Forget it. Memorial Day week/weekend? You're joking right?

Probably you're only chance is to just get on the waiting list immediately at 7 months and hope that there are last minute cancellations. But remember, there will be BCV owners who are on the waitlist before you that have waitlisted before you.

Anything is possible and you could be lucky that when you call at 7 months for the dates you want something will be available, but I would get into the mindset that there's no chance and then if there is something available, you'll be very surprised.

Please call MS. I just got a standard view studio at BWV at 7 months, for the very popular early December, the week of the annual DVC meeting. And this was after the nice CM had checked at 10 1/2 months (when I couldn't book it anyways since I don't own there) and it was already booked solid for studios at BWV. I'm still pleasantly shocked at my good fortune. So call-you never know!

tiberius,
Here is a another thought, could you work a trade with a BCV member who wanted to book a stay at OKW at the 11month window?
(What a shock to realize the 11 month window for June 2004 is coming soon! I need to start thinking about what we plan to do next year! )

Good idea, DC, to see about trading reservations, or possibly rent points for this. Although I had been toying with the idea of buying a small amount of BCV or BWV points for an occasional stay, but I am not sure about making that long-term committment for BCV points when most of my WDW visits do occur in the off-season times and OKW points are sufficient. Besides that, my trip is not ruined if we stay the whole time at OKW, but my DD's (12 & 14) really want to stay at BCV for SAB after seeing the Travel Channel's Beach Club edition of Great Resorts (maybe taping that one was not such a great idea after all...)

I agree it is hard to believe I am planning for May/June 2004 already, but the early bird gets first pick!

Simba's Mom, you are right, there is always a chance for any room, especially for someone who can make plans even 7 months in advance.

Memorial Day weekend may be tough, but a Tuesday-Thursday trip might work. I would constantly call Membership Services, because rooms occasionally do open from time to time! Good luck.

I had no problem getting one bedroom this June at 7 month time. It may be harder if its memorial day, but don't hesitate to try. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I had no problem booking a studio for VWL in April for this 4th of July (was waitlisted 3 days). DH was also offered a std view BWV 1 bdr for 6/1-6/2 (Sun/Mon) last Friday when he called. While it is Memorial Day weekend, it is still weekend points and I say your chances are good and especially if you use the waitlist. Plans change all the time, so you never know until you try. I personally don't think you need to trade points to accomplish this.

I would go for the studio for the weekend portion to save points, if nothing else. Those weekends are expensive!

FWIW, that is not Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day is the previous weekend.

I happen to be an optimist and really think you have a good chance at getting just what you want.

Remember, bcv is still selling and may still be selling in oct when your window opens up. That means that new member inventory is constantly being made available.

Simbas Mom, I bet you lucked out due to the BWV expansion and selling of new points. Perhaps with the renovations new standard studios were made available.

Waitlisting is a great idea, and you can also call bcv resort direct 7 days pre trip to see if they have empty rooms that they will accept a reservation with points to fill.

Best of Luck to you. I have stayed at BCV twice now and it makes for a great vacation. I cannot wait until the day that I can try Old Key West, since that is the origional DVC that I fell in love with back in 1995.
