OKW or SSR?

Going to disney next summer with a split stay at BLT and either OKW or SSR. I will be with DW, DTw (15,15) and DS (5), any difference between the two, especially for teens? How far by car from both to Epcot?

If you have a car, distance is a moot point.

Both resorts offer about the same things to do. SSR is more spread out and closer to DTD. OKW is well established with more of a neighborhood feel to it.

I agree that if you have a car, then the slight difference in distance isn't anything to consider. But, you may find parking to be a little more convenient at OKW than SSR simply because of the layout of the rooms and the parking areas.

OKW is closer to EPCOT by about 875 feet after that it comes down to style choice, SSR nice, proper, groomed.....OKW Jungley, Awesome, ruffled, bigger, Awesome...more Awesome. Parking is better at OKW (as mentioned)

OKW units are BIGGER!

Not only is it bigger it has 2 full queen beds rather than a queen and a pull out sofa.

It is also far more beautiful

SSR is new, clean & beautiful. OKW is older and while the grounds are nice and mature the units can be hit & miss as far as needing a good cleaning & a refurb. But then OKW uses less points too.

Personally, we'd prefer staying at SSR hands down over OKW unless we just don't have the points...that's when we turn to cash ressies instead. Good luck choosing.

Our home resort is SSR and we really love it. It is spread out, we like the grandstand section. It was great being the first bus stop to and from. We usually don't have a car when traveling "home" so we tend to rely on the disney transportation system. We really enjoyed the Turf Club, we ate two great meals here, the ribs were yummy.

We are staying at OKW for the first time in a few weeks and my son is very excited about not having to sleep on the pull out sofa. We looking forward to our stay.

Thanks for the info. Is there any particular OKW buildings to avoid or is too far away (about a year) to predict which units will be refurbed.

We are booked at OKW for late Dec and have the same question about which units (buildings) are less run down. We will be in a 2 bedroom and have all adult kids (no children) so are interested in a quiet unit also. We are starting to get a little concerned about the dirty and run down comments.

Not sure if it was refurbed lately but we were in building 46 in a two bedroom in June and it was not rundown. We had a problem with the A/C and it was fixed in two hours (maintenance was there in 15 minutes) The villa was GREAT and Clean!! (room 4622 to be exact) Have fun....We certainly did
