I posted before regarding this and got some good information but I was looking for was people opinions. Which resort do you prefer and why?

We have a reservation at SSR but I was wondering if we should get on a waitlist for OKW for our trip. Our guests wanted to stay at VWL, OKW, SSR, in this order.

I know there are some DVC'rs that have stayed at both, so I am asking everyones candid opinion on these two resorts.

Thanks!:flower1:

SSR & OKW are our two favorite resorts so I can't really say... but if you give us some more details as to your party we might be able to point some things out. How many? Adults vs. kids? Car or ME? Things you look for in a resort? etc.

Over the years as DVC, we've stayed at both. We find OKW to be a little bit more "laid back" in feeling than SSR, and not as "crisp" in upkeep (just as the actual Keys are, or Ocracoke, NC is). It feels very "Margaritaville" to us, which IMHO, is exactly how it should feel. :hippie: (:drinking1 )
SSR has a more "manicured" feel about it and being so recent, shows very little age (also IMHO).
They're both convenient to DTD, and have their own dedicated transportation. :thumbsup2
To me, their individual appeal is similar to B & Bs vs. modern hotels, or older homes vs. brand-new subdivisions. Each has its merits, and their downsides. :)
At our age, we've a) done B & Bs and hotels, and b) owned new and old homes, and enjoyed the experiences equally. :thumbsup2

OKW makes you feel like you're in Florida. SSR is designed differently(upstate
NY). The same proximity to DTD and walkways from both are great. They are
both big and spread out and provide good walking. I guess it's like comparing
apples and oranges. I love them both! How can you go wrong?!:goodvibes

I loved both resorts for different reasons. I too love the laid back feel of OKW. The rooms are bigger too. But SSR is my home and I love it. I love the size and its distance to DTD. I really don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

We like the layout and size of the rooms at OKW best. SSR is a very nice resort and has a "small town" feel to it, just as it's theme indicates. OKW feels more like vacation homes to me, and definitely has the Florida feeling going.

What Diane said and -----

what size unit are you looking for? Since your guests had an order to where they would like to stay I would go on the OKW waitlist.

I really like both resorts but prefer the 1 BR and above at OKW for the extra room and larger balcony as well as that "Florida" feeling. I like the studios at the other resorts if it is just two of us so we have the sofa for relaxing and TV veiwing while having coffee in the morning.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. We got them on the waitlist for OKW, because of the point difference. They are just happy to be going during the Christmas celebration.

I was asking because I was wondering if SSR was worth the extra 15 points to stay in a studio. I don't know if I will apreciate this resort until I stay there once.

So, we have a room for them currently at SSR and if OKW comes in they will move there. If VWL comes in, they can stay at the same resort as us.

Even if VWL lodge does not come in for them, we will get to see one of the other two resorts because they are staying there!

Thanks again!

I just like OKW better and it's a better point value at OKW.
