Can anyone tell me if you have stayed at either or both of these resorts and how they are? I know there is a boat to get to DTD w/ OKW is there one for SS? Which one is better for kids? Looking for any advise! :) Thank you so much :grouphug:

I love them both. There is a boat from SSR or you can take a walking bridge over to the Westside of DTD. The path by the Marketplace is closed right now.

SSR has three themed pools, all pretty neat for kids. OKW has one themed pool with a sandcastle slide. OKW villas are the biggeset of all the DVC resorts. But OKW has very few elevators (only three buildings have them). So if you are on the second or third floor, you will be taking the stairs up. SSR has elevators in each building, but the rooms are a bit smaller than OKW.

What size villa are you looking at booking?

We like both, but usually when we stay at SSR, we usually just walk to Downtown Disney. We probably like OKW a bit better, the rooms are bigger & we enjoy eating at Olivia's. :thumbsup2
(OKW is our home resort)

you can't walk to DD from SSR any longer. they closed the walkaway because of the changes to the Marketplace (no longer callled that)

looks like it will be closed for a long time.

We've stayed in both, and the location from both to DTD are great. If you are traveling with kids, there are pros and cons to each one. The biggest pro to me is the rooms at OKW are huge and the biggest of any there! But, the biggest con is there are very very few buildings with an elevator. Not easy when you have kids and strollers, it's just a royal pain! They are both very big properties and spread out, so ask to be as close to the hospitality room and bus area as you can, unless you don't mind walking!

I think the pools are better at SSR but I think the villas are better at OKW. If we go just two of us, I like staying at SSR. If we go with the family, I prefer OKW.

I'm actually looking at a 2 bdrm at ss but when I pull up the map it looks so confusing?!? I love that its so close to dtd. Looking to do a split stay and going to ss on the last 4 days. It looks beautiful but so does okw (what resort doesn't :) ) do u know if there is only a certain area where they keep the 2bdrms or are they all spread out?

Two bedroom villas are scattered all over the place, both at SSR and OKW.

You can still walk to DTD from SSR but it takes you over to the Westside, not the Marketplace.
