OKW or DSS? Pros & Cons

Hello,

We have been to WDW several times, but have never stayed onsite. We will be exchanging into the resort. I have it narrowed down to 2 resorts, OKW & SSR I'd love to hear any opinions on both. BTW, just 2 adults going in January.

By DSS you mean Saratoga Springs? (Saratoga Springs Resort is normally abbreviated SSR on the boards).

OKW is older, and the rooms (and balconies) are noticeably bigger. It has a very relaxed feel. It also has a full size Washer and Dryer in 1BR and Larger rooms (Studios don't have washers or Dryers). SSR has a compact over under washer and dryer.

SSR is a bigger resort overall, the rooms are smaller but newer.

You can look at the rooms for both online at http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortOverview?id=ProspectsResortsOverviewPage and see which seem more to your liking.

Both have boats to Downtown Disney, though SSR is Closer.

I've stayed at OKW and it was great, and never at SSR, but personally I'd take OKW again for the bigger rooms. Check out both resorts and go with whichever one appeals to you more - either one will be fine.

No prob - I figured that was most likely.

I'm not sure what size room your are looking for but a big difference between resorts is that if you are looking at a studio or a 2 bedroom. OKW studios and second bedrooms all have 2 queens, while SSR has 1 queen and a fold out couch in the studios/second bedrooms.

I, honestly, think the two resorts are pretty equal. Both have condo-style buildings, rather than the hotel style of BCV/BWV/etc.), both are very large resorts close to Downtown Disney, etc. SSR does have a spa on property as well as a quick-service dining location...if either are important to you. Otherwise they are very, very similar.

If it were me I'd choose based on theming. If you'd prefer the Florida Keys feel of OKW go with that. If you'd prefer the upstate NY feel of SSR go with that.
