I am taking my parents on their first trip to WDW (along with my husband and 3 kids (8-12). I own at OKW, love the resort and was looking forward to showing it to them. At the 7 month mark, I was able to switch to Boardwalk. I did it quickly to avoid losing it, even though I had reservations about the layout of the BWV 2 bedrooms (lock-off only, small kitchen, not much counter space, small dining area), because I figured we would all enjoy the ability to walk to Epcot and HS and because I have never stayed at Boardwalk and have always wanted to. While I am excited about the location, I continue to worry about the room and am wondering if I should try to switch back to OKW? What do you think? Is a 2 bedroom villa at BWV do-able for our group? I’m not so worried about sleeping spaces (my parents will have the studio, our youngest sleeps on a thermorest just about anywhere, the two older kids will have the living room sofa and we will have the master), but more so about actual living (and cooking and eating) space. I know that OKW would be better in that regard, and I am happy to give up some conveniences of the larger space for the location convenience of BWV…just want to make sure it won’t be unmanageable.

The BWV 2 BR (1071 sq ft) is about the same size at an OKW 1 BR (1005 sq ft) be ready for a close encounter. If you are use to staying at OKW BW is a big down grade in usable space, and be ready for those LONG halls.

I actually prefer the BWV kitchen setup compared to some other resorts such as CCV where you have a galley kitchen that sits it the main pathway between door and living room area. I think that you will definitely miss the large balcony at OKW and the dining area inside. BWV dining table is small and cramped. The balconies are narrow.

But you cannot beat it for access to HS and Epcot. I think it's worth trying at least once. If anything, it will make you appreciate OKW more

If you're okay with everything at BWV but the kitchen, I don't think the kitchen and living space tradeoff is worth giving up (1) a resort you've never tried but want to stay and (2) the location.

At BWV you'll probably need to put the bed back daily for the space but I know my family is with the living room space. Two can be in the kitchen without any problem and we find there's enough storage for our needs.

If you do feel a little cramped then there's plenty to do at Boardwalk and the immediate area.

OKW owner and stayed at BWV last year. The space is definitely smaller. Access to the parks is amazing. You have to choose which you're willing to trade. Space or location.

Even though OKW is a little bigger, imo, BW location can't be beat between the 2.I assume you're there for the parks and BW will be closer and easier to get to and from.If space is more of a big concern, rent a timeshare off-site.

I would always pick BWV over OKW. We did not enjoy the bus system the one time we stayed at OKW years ago. The location/ease of getting to HS and Epcot is always preferred. Even though Bwv is our home, I am not a fan of the bathroom layout, but I'll put up with it.. I would love, love, love if they'd make some dedicated 2 bedrooms. the lockoff situation is not great. Like PPs said, it's resort room space vs location

Enjoy your trip, whichever resort you choose! Hope your folks have a wonderful first visit!
