Day 8 dawns gorgeous as usual. We're all up early for showers and last minute packing. We are amazingly ready to head out the door at 7:30 to head to CBR to pick up J&M2 for breakfast and the trip to the airport. As we are loading the car, Mom and I give A last minute instructions. She can take any of the food that's left with her if she wants. If M1 doesn't show, she's to call us immediately. She has my cell, my parent's cell, even J's cell. She also knows where we're having breakfast so she can call there. Mom asks her to give M1's money back to him and tell him where to stick it. A agrees, although I know the stick it part won't be said! After hugs goodbye, we take off leaving her at the villa. We are all uneasy about this, and we don't say much until we get to CBR to pick up J&M2. We pile in the van and head to BCGC for breakfast. My dad is an avid golfer, and although he didn't get to golf this trip he likes to eat overlooking the greens here. I have to admit, I had never been here but it's beautiful. We ate outside and the food was amazing. I had the French Toast which was excellent. I also ended up spilling a HUGE glass of water over J&M2's breakfasts, which my dad thought was hilarious and took pics of!! Breakfast was over too soon, and we headed back out to the van to head to MCO.

It's about 9am now, and Mom is worried about A. She calls on her cell phone and A tells her M1 arrived about 8:15 and they are currently in route to a very cold place. Mom tells her to be careful and call if she needs anything. We drop off the van, check in at MCO and head to the gate. We have a direct flight, which is nice. I highly recommend them if at all possible. We arrive back in a very cold place, which is VERY COLD. We are not happy to be back!

A and M1 arrive in town about midnight that evening, (I can't even imagine how fast they must have been driving) and we're all finally back safe and sound. Now it's back to work on Monday and my first encounter with M1. But there is no encounter. Not Monday, or Tuesday, or any day that week. M1 is avoiding me like the plague. Finally on Friday evening, my friend I have mentioned before tells me he is meeting M1 at a local bar. My friend still has some work to do, so he's running late. No problem, I say. I will go to said bar and tell M1 that! I walk into the place and M1 is waiting. I walk over to his table and he jumps about a mile. I sit down, order a drink, and tell him we need to talk. He starts to apologize for his behavior, and I tell him that apologies are all well and good, but he needs to really understand what he did and how he behaved. I tell him how I felt, how he made everyone on that trip feel, and that we were all very much affected by his behavior, to the point of letting it cloud our last few days. I tell him I am sorry for this, as I considered him to be a very good friend but I am completely baffled as to his behavior. I feel better having said my mind, my friend shows up, M1 apologizes again and then leaves.

This is the last encounter I am to have with M1. Occasionally I see him in the hall and we nod, but that's it. A tried to make peace for a while, but she's stopped that now. I am truly sorry that things ended up this way, but perhaps it has taught me a few things. At the very least, it taught me one thing. In the van going to breakfast the last morning, M2 (a quiet guy who doesn't say much) turned to look at me and said "Well, at least you know now you shouldn't go on vacation with anyone you don't know really, really well." Truer words never spoken. Turns out he'd had a similar experience in Hawaii one year. Chalk another mark in the life experience column!

Thanks for reading my reports and commenting! I have been really encouraged by everyone and I love the DIS!! Next vacation is in June with the extended family and my nephew's first trip to WDW!! I can't wait!

I have never posted before, but I have so much fun reading all your trip logs I had to add one!

Just six days ago I read your first post I must say I have enjoyed your trip reports and it is obvious that with your knowledge of WDW you should share, ::yes:: here on The DIS Boards add to the mix that you are also witty and funny...Please continue to drop by and post. Also next Trip Report is a MUST.

Thanks,
Beckie

Your trip reports were fabulous. I must admit, I kept checking back all weekend to see if you had written another installment!

I'm glad you talked with M1. How sad that a friendship had to be ruined because of childlishness, you know? You offered him a wonderful vacation and this is how he acted.

You must write a trip report for your June trip! And hang around the DIS more often, as you are a wonderful writer.

I really enjoyed all your trip reports, sorry it had to end that way. You live and you learn, at least you had a good vacation and you didn't let it completely ruin your trip.

for a great report. I looked forward to reading them every day. Stay well.

I'm still shocked by M1's behavior during this trip. He didn't act like a 35 yo man invited to join friends on a wonderful trip...he sounded like a high schooler out to ruin everyone's good time.

Glad that A got home safely, although I also don't want to know how fast he was driving, considering he made it home in about 16 hours and you said you're in a cold climate. Too bad that every effort to make amends failed. I'm glad that you were able to tell him exactly how you felt, even if he was unable to really understand how his actions affected everyone.

I, too, hope that you will continue to post on the boards and will post a report of your June trip. I'd love to hear about your nephew's reaction to WDW.

I have really enjoyed reading your trip reports. It's too bad that it had to be blemished. I hope that this former friend was truly sorry for the way he acted. Did you ever find out why he acted like such a spoiled brat? Anyway, I glad that you didn't let him totally ruin your trip. Take care! :)

Thanks for sharing your trip report.:) It definitely kept me in suspense all weekend, I kept looking for day 7 and was glad to see it and day 8 posted.
I look forward to reading more threads from you and reading about your trip in June.::yes:: Ours is not until August.
Take care.:sunny:

Enjoyed reading your trip report.:D So sorry you had to endure M1's behavior, what a jack you know what! We've taken a few of our kids friends with us to WDW in the past, and so far have had only one not so good experience, but nothing nearly as bad as yours. Not to mention that our ungracious guest was only 16 at the time, so you could excuse some of her behavior. Can't wait to read about your next trip.
