I just closed on a resale for OKW last week. I attempted to make a reservation for a Saturday to Saturday stay in a two-bedroom, in OKW. I was told that this was not possible due to the fact that no rooms were available for Sunday.

I do not understand how OKW cannot have rooms available on Sunday when they are available on Saturday before and the Monday after.

Why would no rooms be available on Sundays?

I was told that I have a 50/50 chance of getting the dates needed if I go on the waiting list, is this true?

Congratulations on getting your resale. The reason a Sunday night might not be available is because people check in and out every day and unlike most timeshares, you can stay one night or for as many as you have points for. I would definitely go on the waiting list. There have been many posts about the success of the waiting list. If the wait list does not come through, you can always make alternative plans for the first couple of nights and then start your stay on the Monday night at OKW. You'll have many wonderful stays through DVC. Happy planning!

I was told that no Sundays were available at any DVC location in DW in October. Unfortunately, I cannot change my day of arrival from Saturday.

Any suggestions or alternatives? All suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

First welcome to the boards, I understand that you were the 26,000th person to register. Congratulations. If you haven't seen it, check out this thread on the Community Board.

Congrats ds251!

Second, congratulations on your DVC purchase. Welcome home!!

Now as to Sunday, I agree with janiejo. In addition, since Friday and Saturday are more expensive point wise, a lot of people probably check in on Sunday but that might overlap with people checking out and flying on Monday. I do that. Get as much out of the weekend as I can. Take an early flight on Monday and still get back into work without taking another day off.

I'd suggest getting a room at say one of the All Stars or a moderate for Saturday and Sunday. You might enjoy that and the points will be saved for another trip. Guest Services at the resort you stay at will help and get your bags transferred when you move to OKW. For me, I would try at PO-FQ. Right there near OKW and a very nice and quiet resort. Much like OKW.

Good luck.

Welcome Home!

You've hit on one of the problems. As you read these boards you'll see people have all kinds of strategies for not using their points on Friday and Saturday (don't head down, stay somewhere cheaper for cash, etc.) in order to avoid the higher point days. People like yourself, who just want to book their regular week, can hit a problem. Because of this point saving strategy Sunday is the busiest check-in day at DVC resorts. You've still got time until October so I would hope a cancellation will come through that frees up the Sunday night you need. Stay on the wait list and make a back-up plan "just in case".

Hi there! Congrats and welcome home! Now on to business (lol!!)....I would WAIT LIST FOR SURE!! DH and I just booked a spur of the moment trip last week to VB and BWV for this upcoming Sunday!! We all know how hard it is get rooms at BWV and especially on Sundays and we did with only one week out!! I think you will be able to get it....there is no harm in booking whatever you can, and then waitlisting. If you get what you want, great--you can always switch your ressies around...if not, you are still at the best place on earth!! YAHOOOO!!

Hope this helps. My experience with the waitlist is that it works--really!!! :D

Welcome Home!

Without knowing the number of adults/or kids in your party this might sound odd. Did you consider a studio or 2 studios for the missing nights stay. Perhaps a 1 bedroom and a studio could work for you. Even use your points towards one of the hotels if you want to stay on points might resolve your problem. Try MS again and ask them about those combinations. It will depend on how much time you are willing to giveup packing/moving/unpacking inorder to make it work for you.
