Hi all,

We are booked in a room near HH for the first time! We have really enjoyed our many different rooms at OKW and are looking forward to a stay near the heart of the resort.

We have a 2BR and will be looking for a room that has afternoon/evening shade, or is at least not dead in the center of the late afternoon sun. We plan to use our balcony frequently as we will not be visiting the parks during our stay. We also love a great golf course view. What building would you recommend that meets both of these requirements? We are really eyeing 11-14, especially 12 and 13. Are they shady in the afternoon?

Can't wait....:thumbsup2

it has been a while - but think 11-14 had shade from trees - but you are talking balcony with a roof/ceiling - so you will have shade.

now this was before the last big storm that took down so many trees. but most should have grown back.

Building 15 has a wonderful view of the golf course and the water/fountain that separates the greens!

I hope you aren't setting yourself up for a disappointment; you might not get that villa you want since they don't guarantee anything. Good luck though, I hope you get a good spot.

We had a 2bd, building 14 with a beautiful view of the golf course.

Well, we know we are pretty limited in buildings since we are in the HH category. It's either 11-14 or the 3 buildings in the 20's (I forget which numbers). That last time we stayed, we had a CM help us find a good location in the shade since both DH and myself have skin issues. We pushed pretty hard for it because the time before that we were in building 40 which got an extreme dose of afternoon/evening sun which made the deck pretty much unusable.

Just wondering how these buildings stack up so we know what to ask for....

Because of the skin issues, I wonder if going through that special department, and I'm not sure what it's called, or even if you'd qualify, but maybe they could help with a specific room.

No.
They only deal with rooms that have special features in limited quantities - such as handicapped accessible rooms with roll in showers.

My suggestion - look at a map and figure out which rooms have the back facing South. Those rooms will get sun all afternoon. The ones with back facing West will have later afternoon sun.

Here's a link to the map

The compass is on the bottom.

Building 14 would work great. Even if you get a room where the balcony faces West, there are plenty of trees there to shade you. All of the other 11-14 buildings would have mostly north facing balconys.

HH category are Buildings 11 - 14 and 23 - 26.

The 2BR balconies in Buildings 11- 14 and 23 all generally face NE and will have afternoon/evening shade. Building 24 generally has a NW exposure with afternoon sun, 25 faces WSW (full afternoon sun) and 26 faces south but with good shade from trees.

In addition, the first floor villas in all of the buildings will tend to have more shade due to foliage. I'd request a 1st floor 2BR in Buildings 11-14 or 23. As already noted, all patios/balconies are covered with ceiling fans, so none will have full sun exposure but those facing west will certainly have more direct afternoon sun.

Good luck! :)
