My DD (28) and I decided to spend a few SV-nights at Kidani for my DGS who is 2 1/2. I'd heard negative things about the lighting, the busses, and the potential walking distances, but we had a wonderful stay. Our room was ready at 11AM and we had some choices of location. The lighting is not bright and airy as it is at OKW, BWV, BCV, etc., but I felt it was decor-appropriate. We had no problems at all w/ the bus service. Depending on where your room is, you may have a long walk, but we were fortunate to be near the lobby on the fifth floor. We saw lots of animals (giraffe, zebra, long-horn cattle, ostrich, and assorted other birds). They do a good job of enticing them into viewing area. One thing I really liked was the second full bathroom in the one bedroom. I didn't mind the walk between Kidani and Jambo although I might if the temperature and humidity were very high. I also liked the proximity of parking, unlike BWV. Staff was top-notch. We enjoyed Boma and room service. I would return, although my DH might miss his time at OKW. :goodvibes

I do agree with you that we have always found AKV bus service to be excellent as well. I'm not bothered by the lighting in the units themselves, but I am very bothered by it in the bathrooms.

We have never found the walk between Kidani and Jambo to be bad either, but I do dislike the long hallways. I guess I'd rather walk outside like we do at OKW instead of in a hallway. I find the hallways confusing.

Glad to hear you had a great time. Thats the joy of being a DVC member it allows you to experience other resorts.

We are OKW owners. We stayed at AKV-Kinadi in Aug when they first opened. We loved the resort. We did just a std bdrm which worked for us. There were many places to see the animals. My DC loved the splash play area too. We did go back to OKW last year= got a rehab room-- loved it. this year we are heading back to AKV- Kinadi.

the parking is nice- under shade. Walk to Lodge is not long at all. Buses ran fine. It has a feeling of being soo far away but I think it is suppose to give you that illusion.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at AKV. We own at OKW too and still love it there but we've stayed at most of the other resorts and have enjoyed every one we've stayed at.

glad to read this. We are going there in May and being OKW lovers we were a bit nervous about staying elsewhere. We have stayed in just about all the other DVC resorts and end up wishing we were at OKW.

Glad you enjoyed kidani! We prefer jambo, personally, but kidani is lovely too. My parents are making the first venture to OKW via our membership this June; I'm sure they'll love it. Fingers crossed for their hospitality house waitlist to come through.

We had only stayed at OKW bf staying at OKW-Kinadi. I was soo worried about lack of size. We were so use to the large 2bdrm at OKW. When we went to AKV- Kinadi we were able to stay in a 1brdm since ds was only 2. DS10,ds8 and dd7 all slept in the living room. I was surprised how much room there was. Now it was tight w/ all the beds opened in the living room but w/o them being open it was a very good size. the 2nd bathroom was great. The master bathroom is HUGE!!! The shower in the master is huge too! We are excited to be going back this year. We have a 2bdrm dedicated reserved this year.

enjoy your upcoming stay!!
