OKW Love

We're now halfway through our vacation and have really enjoyed our stay at OKW. We sometimes travel with my Sister, her husband and their 3 kids. We've shared a 2br at SSR and loved the resort, but they were cramped in their room.

We really like OKW location, we usually always travel by car to the resorts and we've greatly appreciated the roominess. I think we ended up in a great bldg, 27. I know some people don't like the renovations, but I'm satisfied. It's less points than BCV or SSR, bigger rooms and a great resort. I have BCV booked for the wine & dine in October and and seriously considering moving my ressie, since I'll be with a group of women.

Also I can't say enough, how quiet the rooms are. That's my biggest issue with HHI, and love I can't hear anything here. I can't remember what it was like at SSR, but since I don't remember anything negative, it must have been fine.

If only all the resorts had a food court like PO Riverside, I'd consider this nearly perfect.

Good to hear you like OKW. This is our home and we will be their for 15 days in just a few days. We have stayed at many other resort but always go back to OKW. The size the total feel of the resort make it perfect. Have a great vacation.

OKW is my favorite home resort. I love it's tropical theme and palm trees. I think all the Disney resorts are beautiful but OKW is home. Enjoy and Welcome Home!

Isn't it just so peaceful? I absolutely love OKW. Glad you are enjoying it. We haven't been there in about 2 years, and I am really getting an itch to go back. Any pics would be wonderful. I need a Disney fix, since we won't be down until the end of July!

Yes, OKW is great, we own at SSR and stayed at OKW in Jan. , our first time as new owners with an add on there last year. We were amazed with how comfortable we were there, I think it was the first time a cm said welcome home to me and it really felt like I was home. I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

OKW is our home and we just love it!! Room size, ambiance, you name it, we like it. We haven't been there since the renovations, but are looking forward to it this summer When my girls were in their teens, they used to call it the "Retirement Home"; now that they are in their late 20s, they appreciate the resort for what it is LOL

I agree 100% about the food court -- that's the one thing lacking @ OKW. I wish there was something at a level between the little take-out window and Olivia's. (Yes, I know you're supposed to cook in the villas...but I'm on vacation too!)

Before OR after the renovations, OKW still gives me that "AHHHH" feeling of comfort and relaxation. We love AKV Kidani, and have enjoyed many other DVC resorts, but OKW (and Vero Beach) will always be our 'first loves' and give us that 'home away from home' feeling!

HHI will always feel like a first love, even though we own at BCV & SSR, but for some reason, this is the first time, I get a little thrill when they wave us through the gate and mouth "Welcome Home' It really feels like it. As many times as my sister has travelled with us, she's now researching DVC. I'll try to post some pics in the next few days. There was a supermoon the other night, and I thought I'd forgotten my camera, and was wanting to take pics then. It was just beautiful.

I have to tell myself to relax, and it's a little easier when I drive through the get. It's starting to become a 'pavlovian response'

It's so beautiful and relaxing there. You can really "get away from it all". Even the Disney madness. The best of all possible worlds.
