I understand that most two-bedroom villas at OKW consist of a connecting one-bedroom and studio combination but a few dedicated two-bedroom villas exist. Other than the ability to lock off the studio room, what are some of the differences between the two types of villas.

Also, is there a location difference between the two types? Last April, I stayed in a studio(building 55) located in south point and thought the location was excellent. I loved being able to easily walk to downtown disney and SSR.

Where is your favorite location at OKW?

As you know, the lock-off 2 bedroom is created by opening the door between a studio and one-bedroom.

In a dedicated, the 2nd bedroom is truly a bedroom. It does not have the kitchenette or it's own outer door. Someone will have to check my memory, but I don't think it has a balcony off the second bedroom either. You get more space where the kitchenette would have been -- no frig, micro, coffeemaker, etc. Also no outside wet bar/sink. Both types of units are located throughout the resort. The decision on type of 2 bedroom is made when you make the reservation -- dedicated or lock-off.

There are more than a few dedicated 2 bedrooms. OKW has more dedicated 2 bedrooms than lockoffs (by my 1999 POS, 274 dedicated to 226 lockoff). They tend to reserve the dedicateds first and allow the lockoffs to be booked as separate 1 bedrooms and studios. If the 2 bedroom dedicateds are gone, then they will start booking 2 bedroom lockoffs.

We really liked the dedicated 2BR b/c I didn't have to worry about an extra door with a 3 year old. It is correct that there was no balcony off of the bedroom w/ 2 queens, but that was ok for us. If we were traveling w/ another family however, I would prefer the lock-off for a little more privacy and to have the kitchenette and balcony.

the second bedroom in the dedicated two bedroom has a large closet where the exterior door would be. There is a second bathroom sink where the wet bar would be.
