How busy is OKW usually the last week of Jan- the first week in Feb? How is the weather usually this time of year? Thanks

Hi Walter,
I haven't been to OKW, specifically, in this time period, but I have stayed onsite in this timeframe. I can tell you we found it to be not very crowded at all. The weather was very different the two years I went. In 2000, we had sun and 75-82 for the entire week we were there. But in 2001, it was much different. It was rainy and 48-55. I'd say you really have to keep close watch on the weather forecast the days before you leave and pack shorts & jeans along with a light jacket or sweatshirt.

We will be there that timeframe in 2004. And are hoping for low crowds. It will be our first trip as parents and we are taking some family with us also.
So, we will be watching the weather the weeks before and packing a variety of stuff.
I am just hoping the weather at WDW is better than the weather at home that week.

We haven't been there specifically the last week of Jan., but we do always go sometime in January. This year it will be the third week. We always find the crowds to be very small except at the MK on the weekend. The weather can be iffy sometimes, but never bad enough to ruin a trip. While in can be cool, it is so much warmer than home, we don't care!:p There is usually very little rain during this time too. In all the times we have gone to WDW in January, I only remember rain one day.:cool1:

We love it that time of year! We've been @ OKW for the first week of February the past two years and will be there again in 2004.

Crowds, what crowds? You can "do" the parks without waiting in line half the time. It's great!

Weather is fair to very good (and soooo much better than at home :) ) You'll probably encounter a little rain and it might be cool at night (But, I use it as an excuse to buy that new Disney sweatshirt or fleece)

We went during school break years ago when our son was young, give me "slow" season anytime!

Enjoy!

You'll really like it that time of the year as crowds at the parks are fairly low.

Weather will be unpredictable until shortly before you go. Just like in the north it could be 0 degrees or 30 degrees in Jan/Feb, the same difference can translate to Florida temperatures of 40 degress or 70 degrees.

The worst we've ever seen during this timeframe is below freezing at night and low 30's during the day, to the best we've seen of 80 degrees or more during the day. It all depends on whether a cold front is hitting, or a warm front is hitting during your trip.

On average, you can probably expect something in the middle of the above ranges. Whatever it is, you can bet it'll be warmer than whatever temperature you'll be leaving back home.

Average highs and lows for 3rd and 4th weeks of January and the 1st and second weeks of February:

72/47
72/48
72/48
73/48

The coldest average high is 71 during the 2nd week of January and the coldest average low is 47 during the 3rd week of January.

Caskbill's admonition about variability is right on the mark!

I check the weather channel 10 day forecast right before I go and modify my packing accordingly.

See you there!
