OKW - Just Returned

I just returned from a 4 night stay at OKW. This was my first experience in this style of property, and I was a bit nervous about it.

The first thing I noticed was the SUPERB bus service. I don't know who the OKW team has paid off in Disney Transportation, but it has been money very well spent. There was virtually a constant parade of busses at all times. A few times I had the bus all to myself on the way to my destination.

My first room was 5020. This room was close to the street and traffic noise made it hard to sleep. I called the next morning and the Front Desk staff immediately changed my room to 3532--MUCH quieter.

Both rooms were clean and in good repair. I did notice an interesting oddity in the second room that an exterior light was positioned so as to cast a direct beam of light onto my pillow. What are the odds of that? A small kleenex solved that problem.

The staff was courteous and attentive.

I prefer the "hotel style" properties, but this OKW stay was very pleasant.

Thanks for the report. We will be there Tuesday . We are going to be in the Hospitality House section. I can't wait to see what building. I also can't wait to see the renovations.

How were the crowds at the parks and lines for the rides?

Last week the crowds were quite light. EPCOT felt like my own private park at times. As you get closer to Christmas I would expect that reality to change quickly.

Europe is out for xmas break as of last Fri. From that point until about Jan 3 the parks will hit close to max almost everday from about the 20th on. I was there at xmas once, and in July once... never again!

We felt the same way after our first Christmas at WDW -- never again! Or so I thought. My DW loved it. That was five years ago and we've been back every year since.

I prefer the "hotel style" properties, but this OKW stay was very pleasant.

I've done so much business travel in the last few years that I try to avoid "hotel style" properties on a vacation. I want to avoid any reminders of work.
