Hi:
We are planning a trip to OKW. Last year we went to SSR and everyone loved it. Part of the fun was only knowing things about the resort that I read here. Everyone was so helpful.

So, does a one bedroom have a balcony?

Is there a good building that is "close" to everything? I read that I can use the bus system to move around the complex and I'm good with that or walking. Hubby is a sleep late kind of guy on vacation and I stay on the clock and get up and walk around. I'll get on the bus and go to DTD or the Boardwalk for coffee, etc. But, after a long day I don't want to have to walk far for the late night snack.

Thanks.
Pam

OKW 1 bedroom has a huge balcony with a table and 4 chairs. There is a light and fan above the table. The balcony is accessed by 2 doors- the master bedroom has one and the other door is beside the dining table in the living room area.

We enjoyed watching the ducks from our balcony every morning, they have learned to come "a running" when a balcony door is opened looking for hand-outs.

We never request a certain building and have always been happy with our location, so sorry I can't suggest specific buildings.

Thanks for the quick reply. We are in at OKW for the week of 8/26. We are also using the Meal Plan for the first time. I'm excited about that.

This DVC is the best thing we ever did. The meal plan for two people for 6 nights is only $467 and the resort is booked and paid. This is our first time as empty nesters - no parks for us on this trip!

Now I can't wait to go!

Since it is just the two of you, it won't matter. But if you were traveling with additional people, there was a minor design change in the OKW one bedrooms about 1/2 way through the construction. In buildings 30 and above, there is a second entrance to the restroom through the laundry room. In bldgs 29 and below, there is only a single restroom entrance through the master bedroom.

If you want to be near, but not right on top of, the main check-in area..I recommnd an area near the Peninsular Rd bus stop. It is a short walk across a bridge from the main pool and restaurant.

If you enjoy a morning walk in the fresh air, you may like the area near bldg 55, there is a walking pathway to DtD, a little less than a mile each way.

There are 3 very nice neighborhood quiet pools at OKW, each with laundry facilities for the studios, newspaper vendors, hot tubs and a childrens play area, as well as the main themed pool with the sand castle slide.

There is a small sauna located inside the lighthouse near the main pool.

Buildings 62, 63, and 64 are the only ones with elevators...because they were built after the original sales center (Commodore House) which occupied that that area was torn down, and there had been a change in the ADA laws.

I could never go and not do the parks! LOL, I have to at least do some of the table service at Epcot. I can't pass up AK either, so I don't ever see us doing DVC without the parks.

I'm tentative about this trip without the parks. I figure we can always get a ticket for a day pass or something. I'm looking forward to eating my way through all the resorts.

We have never been to the Grand Floridian and I haven't been to the Polynesian since the 1970's. A little tour of all the resorts and good food throughout should keep us busy.

Admittedly, I'll have lots of planning to do since we always work our way around the parks. Sleeping late, lazy walks, and excellent food should fill up our days and nights.

but I'll let you know after I get home if I was able to hold out or not :goodvibes

Hi Chuck--which building numbers are closest to (or as you say, right on top of) the HH and main pool area?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We are doing pretty much the same thing 4 weeks later. We will probably go into the parks only 1 day out of 7 (well, travel to and fro WDW is part of that). We plan on getting 10 day no exp park hoppers with the 6 pluses. That way we can go into the water parks and save the theme park tickets for when it is not so hot.

I have been seeing you all over these boards! Lots of questions, fun to watch you. Enjoy!
