My husband and I will be staying at the OKW in May for 5 nights. Do you have any recommendations for things to enjoy at the resort during this time? Is this a very busy time at OKW? We will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary and would like to enjoy the resort, the parks and the dining.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. This is the first vacation my husband and I are taking as a couple. We have two sons 15 and 13 who are very jealous :-)goodvibes

Happy Anniversary! We'll be at OKW in May, too. For my DD13's surprise birthday trip. Girls only. :cool1:

We do enjoy Olivia's for meals, but be sure to enjoy your balcony in the mornings and evenings for coffee, dessert, etc. OKW is so lovely for a nice stroll. And don't forget the nice boat ride to DTD.

We just made some ADR's a few weeks ago and really didn't have any trouble, so you probably stand a decent chance if you call soon. If we had a trip like yours planned, we'd try for LeCellier, Coral Reef, Brown Derby, and maybe some of the resort restaurants at GF, Poly and Yacth Club. Basically all the things we'd never take the kids to!! :rotfl:

I to will be at OKW in May for Memorial Day week.
It's my second favorite DVC resort after my home resort of BCV. Love the theming and tropical atmosphere.

I always stay in the HH area, my favorite buildings are 13 & 14 for the proximity to all of the resorts amenities, all within walking distance.

I enjoy sitting in the hot tub at 6:30-7:00am when I have it all to myself and there's not another sole around.

Love sitting at the Gurgling Suitcase for an evening cocktail and talking to other guests, and then just being able to walk back to my room.

As much as I like being on the first floor and not having to do stairs the views from the upper floors are much better especially the golf course views. There is so much foliage around the buildings that the ground floor units generally don't have much of a view and don't get a lot of sunlight. Love having my car right outside my door.

I'm not terribly fond of Olivas and it certainly isn't what I would consider a romantic type restaurant. Some that I would consider for an anniversary dinner would be California Grille, (especially at Wishes time) Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Shula's Steakhouse at the Dolphin. My favorite on site restaurant is Ohanas at the Poly, for an all you can eat restaurant it's outstanding. I wouldn't wait to much longer to make your ADRs most of the good restaurants fill up quickly.

I hope you have a great trip, and enjoy OKW.

Thank you for sharing your advice. I heard that OKW has great theming and will be sure to take it all in. For ADR's, we have:

Saturday - San Angel Inn
Sunday - Bomas
Monday - Biergarten
Tuesday - Olivia's
Wednesday - Raglan Road Irish Pub

I had just booked these the day before FD was released. I am so glad I did because I think it would have been even harder to find the choices we wanted in the times we'd like to eat. Thanks again. We will be there 5/13-5/18.

If you prefer to have a quiet pool area stay in buildings at South Point. Great area to avoid all the hustle & bustle. You do have to plan accordingly because you are not near the HH for food.

It is one of my favorite areas at OKW. Last summer we were there for 7 nights and one afternoon I had the pool all to my self. What a great day!

Definitely spend the mornings out on the balcony/patio. We love the sound of the water and birds. It is very peaceful.

House of Blues is another great restaurant. Right now you can get a $25 GC for $3.00 on restaurant.com

We did this last year and loved it. DH just bought another one to use on our April trip.

If you are looking for quiet, try the quiet pools. We have only been to the one at Turtle Pond, but it was great with few kids.
