OKW in Jan., MLK week, How Crowded?

We have been to WDW once in Jan during the Marathon and know that this time of year is great, even with an additional 25,000 marathoners, no crowds.

So we are offering my sis and her family a week at OKW, begginning Sun before MLK day. Is that weekend really that crowded? Our local schools have 3 days out that week and after a little coaxing I got them heading to WDW.

Their boys have wanted to go to WDW for years and though they can afford it, the cost still holds them back. So we offered the points at no cost hoping they would get to finally go.

They took us up on it. I just hope that week is not hugely crowded.

Anyone been that week that can give some thoughts on crowds?

and found that the MK was a little nutty around 10:30 am on the actual day...but not so bad that we were forced to leave We find the October "crowds" are heavier than the MLK week..

I have a feeling we're never going to WDW in July or at Christmas!! LOL

We got there early, as in 30 minutes before opening, hit the headliners, had an early lunch, and skedaddled back to the pool - which some thought was too chilly... but we're from Canada

They will be fine as long as they stay away from the MK on the Sunday and holiday itself. Going to other parks shouldn't be an issue.

This week is great after you get past Monday. We took my Sis and family during this week last year. All my BIL said all week (he had been reluctant about going during this time) was, "Wow, hon! We will have to come back every time during this time of the year!" They had always went in August before.

OKW is a little more corwded than I expected when I was there during that time period last year, but I found the crowds to be low, but I did not go on the actual holiday to the parks. I would say it is a lot less crowded than Febraury, and more cowded than say the last week of Jan when you have the place to yourself, nothing like the summer or other busy times.

We went that week for like 5 years in a row (moving to a Nov week this year)....I agree with previous posts...stay away from the MK on Sunday and Monday and the rest of the week will be a delight....we always do EPCOT on the Sunday and/or Monday and crowds there are not bad at all....then the rest of the week MK, AK and MGM are very doable.

What a kind sibling you are....they will have a most memorable week.
