We are planning our next vist to the MOUSE (Dec. 08), and want to try OKW. We want a 2 Brm unit and would like a "quiet" location, but not too far from Olivia's. and the HH.

3 questions:

What would be a prefered building/unit for the above ?

How much bigger are 2 bdrm. OKW units than SSR (our home resort)?

Will we have any problem switching at 7 months for our stay (11/30-12/4/08).

Thanx!

They are all quiet at OKW. Just ask to be close to the Hospitality House. That is a separate booking request for OKW starting 1/1/08, so it might already be booked at 7 months. We like Turtle Pond location which is close to the Turtle Shack (when it is open) and the Turtle Pond pool.

The one and two bedroom villas are significantly larger at OKW than the other DVC resorts.

If you are located in one of the buildings further away from the HH, you can always jump on any bus to ride to the HH from your location. If you choose to ride a bus back to your location, just hop on the DTD (also known as the Internal) bus. It stops first at the HH and last at the HH.

OKW is our home resort and have stayed in many different areas and have not had a bad one yet (since 1994). Our recent favorite is Miller's Rd area building 21, 22. It is a short walk to main area and it also has a nice quiet pool area. turtle Pond is also nice, but a further walk to HH. Remember that the buses also can take you to and from the main area. Have fun! We will be at OKW on 12/23 for 5 nights....Maybe we'll see you next year.

Another OKW owner who doesn't think there is a truly BAD location at OKW. The only somewhat negetive one I can think of is building 29, and that's because it is too close to the road and too hemmed in with vegetation. We never make any requests, and we always get units that have something great about them.

I think a SSR 2 bedroom is 1083 sq ft and OKW is 1410 sq ft. That's an area larger than a studio added to the sq footage at OKW.

Besides building 29, I don't care for #64 because it does not have the parking outside the building. You need to use parking in an adjacent building.

As far as rooms compared to SSR, there is a HUGE difference in space. First big difference is the table. The extra square footage appears to be mostly in the living/entry areas. At SSR, you have a rectangle table, bench and a couple of chairs. At OKW, you will have a round table with 4 chairs, plus room to bring in some from the deck. No stumbling trying to get around the table. Also at OKW, you will have the sofa/sleeper, chair & ottoman, PLUS you will have a loveseat. If you choose to leave the sleeper open, there is plenty of room to walk around. Not so much at SSR. There are also some extra cabinets and shelves by the table, much like a buffet, for extra storage. The deck is nice and big with a table and 4 chairs, plus a fan and access from the master bedroom. And lastly, the washer dryer at OKW are full sized and not the stackables at SSR. We love our SSR, but we also love OKW!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom in Sept and loved the location. We were right across the street from Olivia's and the rest of the facilties and were in building 13.

We love the Millers Road area, but I have to agree with those who said there really isn't a bad area in OKW. As far as I'm concerned, if I'm at OKW I'm happy!
