Hello! We've decided to plan a last minute trip (9/17-9/26), and wouldn't ya know it...everything is practically sold out. I didnt' want to pay rack rates, so I bought an annual pass for passholder rates.

Besides club level, OKW was the only resort I could get at a decent rate.

Now, I don't see a whole lot of information (besides a post made today, and they didn't seem happy!), and the search isn't working for me right now, could anyone drop some advice on this place for me?

Is there a certain building I should request? My mom likes being close to where we can use our refillable mugs, the food court (although as I'm reading its pretty lacking) and near a bus stop?

Also does reservations get annoyed when I call 2-3 times looking for a different resort at a passholder rate?

OKW is a DVC resort so most posts about it will be on those forums. It is a beautiful resort but very large.

You can make requests but that DVC resorts fill rooms on a room ready system so basically they will get you what is ready when you check in. So at that time ask what is available and then make a request is there are any options. If they have heavily booked, you might not have much option.

As to reservations getting annoyed, only if you call and they can't find anything for you. They work on a booking commission system, so what they want to do is find you a room, get you off the phone and move to the next call.

Perhaps I'm not the best person to take advise on, since I'm the one you mentioned who posted earlier today, but I would basically forget about the mug option at OKW. This, too, was another reason we didn't care for OKW - the mugs are not a great option here. The only place you can fill them is at Goods to go, which has limited hours (so after park hours isn't really an option), and some place called the Turtle Shack, which also has very limited hours - and we never did find it!! I would definately request a building near the Hospitality house - I think it would have been a much better resort had we been near there - the 'hub' of the resort if you will.

As stated OKW does not have a food court. The Turtle Shack is located at the Pool in the Turtle Pond Road area.

Since your unit will have a frigerator I would just get drinks for the room.

OKW is a great resort but it is large. It has the biggest rooms of all the dvc resorts so you will have a lot of room. Sammie has the best suggestion, since you will have a refrigerator in your room, if you want alot of pop, simply by a 2 liter bottle. If you have a 1 bedroom, you will have a huge master bedroom with jacuzzi bath, a full kitchen (refrigerator) and a nice living room with a big balcony that will more than make up IMO for the lack of refillable mugs option.

OKW is our favourite resort - check the DVC boards for more positive info there! We're DVC owners, so we don't necessarily like being near the 'hub' since we go to relax in our two bedroom villa for two weeks. That being said, we just stayed in July and had building 26 at Peninsular Rd., which we picked from the map of available rooms when we checked in. This was right beside a bus stop and also just a one minute walk over the bridge to the Hospitality House, pool and ferry launch (we love taking the boat to DTD!). Plus we had a gorgeous view of a pond so we could feed the ducks every day, and a golf green (the views at every building are lovely and relaxing from your balcony!). It's a beautiful, relaxing, get away from it all kind of resort, and I'm sure you and your Mom will love it!

We just got back from OKW and we loved the resort, it was so much more relaxing than the value resorts that we usually stay at. We did ask for a room near the hospitality house which was great because we liked being able to walk over to the main pool, ferry and Goods to Go. I had read about the limited hours at Goods to Go so we purchased beverages to keep in the room instead of buying the refillable mugs. We made a couple of trips over to DTD to eat at WP Express so that we had more choices at a CS. However we also had food from Goods to Go a few times at lunch and it was fine.

okw has a kitchennett - suggest you use it.

get or order grocery. I agree with jfranklyn don't get a refillable mug here.

it is just too far.

if you have a car then go to a grocery store. If you don't have a car - then go with a grocery deliver

use the $11.95 plus tax to order cokes.

the building close to HH - 11 thru 14, 23 to 26, 62-64 & 16.

We just got back from a wonderful stay in a 1 BR in building 28 at OKW. :goodvibes

I agree with other posters--no point in getting a refillable mug when you have a full size fridge. We brought lots of water and Otter Pops (so refreshing to have popsicles in the freezer!).

I thought Olivias was great and really enjoyed it (the wings were awesome. I wish we'd all ordered them so we could've had leftovers in the room for a midnight snack.) Goods to Go is another story, though, and I recommend avoiding it completely. It's possibly the nastiest fast food I've had in my life!
