OKW GV..confused on rules for adding nights

Since DVC eliminated the need to call day by day to book reservations and allows guests to book the entire time frame beginning with the start date, I now have a question.

I booked a GV for June next year and have already used all of the '09 and '10 points in my OKW contracts. When I call to attempt to add some days at 7 months can I call 7 months from the start date (Oct 30th) or do I have to wait until 7 months from the END date of the current reservation (Nov 4th?)

Any insight on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Call from 7 months out when the days you need fall into the last seven days of a stay. For example, if you already have Oct 1-6, but need Oct 7-10, you could call on Feb 3 to get Oct 7, Oct 8 and Oct 9. The seven day time frame you would be reserving would be Oct 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

If they won't let you do that, call on Feb 7 for Oct 7, 8 and 9.

Call 7 months out from Oct. 30 to get Nov 4 and 5. Call again to get more days. Good luck!

When I had an existing reservation at BWV booked with BWV points, I called to add more nights using transferred SSR points. MS told me that my existing reservation was meaningless in determing dates to call because my new nights would have a different reservation number. So the soonest I could call was 7 months prior to the date I wanted to book. It made sense as this is consistent with how the timing for split stays also works (i.e., you need to call back 11/7 months prior to the beginning of the second part of your stay). -- Suzanne

Another example of different answers from different CMs. I was able to add a couple of days to a reservation using the original check-in date. I don't know if I had a separate reservation number or if the original was modified.
At any rate, good luck to the OP in getting the days whenever the call is made!

Just to clarify.. There was never a DVC imposed need to call day by day. The "need" was self imposed by members.
If a member wishes, they can still call day by day in reverse, i.e. walk your reservation.

Thank you for the additional insight. I guess we'll see what happens when I try calling in Nov. for those early June nights.

It turns out that I had 110 points in my '10 use year that I didn't realize were there so I am booked for Sunday, May 30 through Friday, May 4th. Then I skipped over Friday and Saturday Night and booked Sunday May 6th and Monday the 7th. I'm going to try calling at the 7 month mark to add the Friday and Saturday I skipped using Saratoga points. Then link the reservations together since it would be consecutive nights. I know I'm taking a risk trying to do this, but it is one I'm willing to take. This is the first time our school calendar has allowed me to book in a cheaper season and I'm trying to take advantage of it.

It looks like you currently have 2 reservations separated by 2 weekend days. If the points you will be using are an add-on different resort from the same account, you will be able to add 2 days to the first reservation and then MS can link both together into one seamless reservation. You can do that 7 months from the first day of the existing reservation.

If the points you will be using are from a different membership number account, you will need to wait until 7 months from the first day of the new reservation you will be making and then have MS link all three together into one seamless reservation.

The same would have been true if you were adding additional days to the original reservation. If the points were from a different resort under the same account, it could be done 7 months from the first day of the original reservation - and if from a different account (member number) you'd need to wait until 7 months from the first day you wanted to add.

Have a great stay! :)

Thanks for clarifying, Doc. That explains why I was able to add days from the original check-in day. Although I own OKW and BWV, they are under one membership because they have the same use year.
