OKW Groceries

Going to OKW next november staying in a studio which includes DDP, ive heard that there is a grocery store onsite, my question, is it a good place to get my essentials ( cereals, milk, snacks etc ) just basic things for breakfast time and night time snacks or am I better going offsite? We won't be hiring a car so will have to get buses or taxis. Is the store onsite alot more expensive?...

I get our toiletries, snacks, suncream and bottled waters etc delivered to the resort. Not sure if OKW has a policy about deliveries so check that first, but I don't get fresh or perishable produce so I just order from Amazon or similar and get free delivery. The shops at the resorts have all the basics so you could get your milk there. Failing that Garden Grocer is a popular choice if it's mainly food stuff that you want.

Grocery at OKW is in the general store where you buy souvenirs. Same thing at all resorts. It is expensive for most things like coke cereal chips beer wine ect. Milk and eggs are reasonable so are entenmenns doughnuts . You can find a list of items they sell with prices online and even in this forum. I always bring my own but I drive. Good luck!

Yes it is more expensive than going offsite however if you are not buying a lot it will easier than getting a taxi.

We always buy a bottle of Chocolate milk and some coke for the first night from the resort so we have something then as we have car we get the rest of the items we want from Publix. If we didn't have a car I would just use the shop especially if we had the DDP as you don't need much extra then.

We have used garden grocer before when staying at OKW and it was great bought snacks and Pepsi, butter and various other items. The bell services kept our chilled items perfectly and delivered it to our room once we had checked in. No charge from OKW just a tip to the CM who delivered it.
Other folks rave about we go shop but I've never used them.

When we stayed at OKW earlier this year we got a few bits from the Hess garage opposite DTD. Not too far to walk, just opposite Disney Bus stops half way down DTD (sorry can't remember what the stops called, but basically buses stop twice at DTD & it's the 2nd stop). You can see from bus stops. Sell bottles of wine (nice for relaxing on balcony ) & snack items definitely, not sure about cereals though. OKW is really convenient for DTD too

I used Garden Grocer in Octobe, ordered beer for hubby and my eldest son, milk, cereal, crisps, snacks, fruit, lots of water and other soft drinks, spent £100 but it must have saved a fortune on breakfast and snacks as did not have a dining plan.

Fairly sure that the boat from OKW stops at Westside (where the cinema is), so it's a short walk through that area and across the car park to get to the gas station.

Yes it does it also runs every 20 mins on a strict schedule, so more predictable than the buses. Depends how much you're carrying though, buses a lot closer at Westside stops- max 5 min walk, you'd walk pass bus stops on way to boat. I'd been up until 1am working in a Children in Need Call Centre after a full day at work, so brain wasn't working at full speed Sat am

We got garden grocer delivery in August to OKW and they kept it all at bell services and then delivered it on the little truck for us. We got mainly breakfast items, fruit, orange juice, and bottles of water - these plus the addition of a walmart cooler bag saved us a fortune!

Their bottled water seems quite expensive. Is it still cheaper than the onsite shop?
Also do you order for arrival day? We're at pofq and wonder how long they hold it for.

We ordered on our arrival day,so we had everything we needed for the rest of the holiday.they held everything for us for about four hours,I suppose they can hold it all day if you want.With the water we ordered two gallon bottles and just filled up our smaller bottles as and when,that worked out a lot cheaper than buying a case of smaller bottlle.Garden Grocer will be cheaper than on site but how much I'm not sure.

OKW will accept parcels for you. We had to have spare tyres for out pram shipped out and they held them for 2 days before we arrived at the resort. They'll more or less do what you want there. The manager even let my Husband check his fantasy football result on her laptop lol
