OKW Favorite Things

We are staying at OKW in October. On the WL for BWV but doubt my name comes up because it is for 6 nights and a standard view! I am trying to get excited about OKW, as I have never stayed there, but after staying at Caribbean Beach resort last May I am hesitant about OKW because it seems to be built in the same manner. We are supposed to have a room next to the hospitality house, so hopefully we don't have to take a bus to get to the pool or something! What does everyone like about OKW??

While I enjoy an occasional stay at the spectacular but gigantic Coronado Springs resort, I understand exactly what you're talking about. I'm confident you'll find OKW to be much more compact, manageable and MUCH easier to navigate. (OKW is only about half the size of Coronado Springs.)

I bought points at both OKW and BWV so I have an unbiased opinion! While both resorts are wonderful, my wife greatly prefers OKW because of the "Welcome Home" atmosphere and family hospitality especially with all the activities & services conveniently centered in the Hospitality House area.

The rooms are the largest of all the DVC resorts, the theme pool is delightful and the resort features a boat which travels directly to Downtown Disney every 20-30 minutes. Of all the DVC resorts, OKW is by far the most charming (at least in our opinion). So while we love the "glitz" and "excitement" of BWV, you really can't beat the "romance" and "serene beauty" of OKW - especially after a mad-house day at the parks!

OKW is the perfect place to kick back and actually enjoy your vacation - you may be very pleasantly surprised!

There are neighborhood pools within walking distance of all villas, that while they are not themed are great for a quiet swim. The Turtle Pond area has a snack bar that is opened seasonally. You can take any bus to the HH for dining, or swimming at the main pool. Bus service is generally good. Enjoy!

When I bought in 1999, the only WDW DVC resorts were OKW and BWV. I liked both of them but bought at BWV because reservations were harder to get. It was originally for my mom and I, we stayed at OKW in May and then BWV in early December. We liked OKW for the more relaxed, laid back atmosphere. The 1 bedrooms are very large and we liked being able to sit on the porch and either watch golfers or ducks/small animals walking around (I always requested first floor, water view). BWV was our more "close to the action" vacation.

Our home resort is OKW and I have to say that we love the quiet pools. There has always been one close to walk to.
