OKW Extension - What if we just ignore it?

This may be a stupid question, but it is the two disinterested parties that I am concerned about. The paperwork says that one of them can be the Notary. Does the other have to be someone who knows you? Coordinating a time that DH and I can both get there is one thing and if we have to arrange for a third person (the second witness) is going to make it more difficult. I am hoping that both witnesses can be from the notary office. Does anyone know if this is the case? Thanks!

Usually the witness is someone from the same location as the notary. I still think the easiest thing for most people to do is arrange to have everything done the next time you are on a DVC vacation. Since they can have all the paperwork ready for you and all the signers etc, will be in one place, it just makes sense. The only thing we had to do was make the appointment and show up. About 15 minutes later we were on our way for our ice cream at the DVC ice cream shop and heading over to look at the new models. They aren't saying this has to be done immediately, so why not just arrange to do it when you are there? It was super easy that way.

I think we just recieved the paperwork for declining yesterday (I haven't opened it yet so it may actually be something else). Is it possible to sign the papers at HH this summer? We won't be going to Disney again until December.

Only if there is a quality assurance person at HH. December should be fine though. I doubt it hurts to wait, but I would call your guide a make an appointment for your next trip to do it. That way they can have everything ready for you and it wont take much of your time.

Our papers only arrived yesterday. I intend to take my husband to our bank where I have used the notary several times. She will just pull in someone from the next office for the second witness and we will be on our way in ten minutes, no charge. This may be a minor inconvenience for us, but it is not the end of the world. I still love my DVC. ::MinnieMo

I went to my local bank to get the papers signed/notarized. They would have been happy to notarize them, but said they couldn't act as witnesses, not even the notary. Strange. So I'll just take my papers to SSR in the next week or so when I'm down there.

Does anyone know if you need an appointment at SSR to do this if you already have the paperwork in hand, and just need to sign it. Or can you just walk in?

Thanks. I haven't looked the papers over yet, but if it's not too cumbersome, I might just try and take care of it at work, one of our staff just became a Notary. I might be her first customer:)

That is weird. Our bank just has another teller witness.

We signed ours today. Our bank had two tellers for witnesses in addition to the free notary. Even though the notary could have been a witness.

Received papers yesterday, signed and notarized today at the bank, back in the mail tomorrow. Easy process.:goodvibes

Thanks! You make a good point. We are planning to go next January. Can this be done at any of the DVC resorts or only AKV or SSR?

It would have to be done at the sales office, currently located at SSR.

Yes, John, you do need to call your guide and have him/her arrange an appointment with Quality Assurance. The QA people will have everything ready for you. Since you already have your documents, you will probably just need to bring those with you as well.
