We were cleaning out some cabinets this weekend and came across some photos of the demolition of Commodore House, which was the original home of the Disney Vacation Club sales office.
After BWV opened, the sales office was moved to that location and the original sales office was demolished and Buildings 62, 63 and 64 were added in that location. Miller Road was also revamped to accommodate the new alignment of the resort.
Commodore House itself sat where Building 62 is now located, right on the lake. It had an expansive porch looking out on the island green. Early buyers who purchased at the Commodore House had their photo taken (with Mickey and Minnie in a hot air balloon) and a great dish of ice cream.
These photos were taken in late 1997 (please correct me if that is not right) after OKW had "sold out" and the newer three Buildings were added and then sales reopened to "sell out' again. (The same thing happened when the BWV sales office moved to SSR in 2004 and the space was renovated to add more DVC villas at BWV.)
Building 62 now sits where Commodore House was located. Building 16 is located behind the trees on the right in the photo and was home to the original model villas. A 2BR lockoff and GV was available for sales tours in that building.
This photo was taken from what is now the parking area for what is now Building 63. Miller Road was revamped to accommodate what is now the Building 62 parking area. Building 64 is to the right of where this photo was taken.
