OKW buses to parks

Okay I need to finally make the ressie for my DD and friends ( graduation gift) and found out what is available. I need to know how easy it is to get to the parks (long bus rides?) from OKW. I can get her 6 nights in a 1 bedroom at OKW OR I can get her a studio at OKW for the 1st 2 nights and 4 nights in 1 bedroom at BWV. (same points) There are 4 grads that will be staying and just trying to make this a very memorable trip for them. I cannot decide if a split stay is a good fit for them or a pain and if OKW is easily accessible via bus maybe that would work. They do not seem to care. How about just a straight studio for 4 girls OKW is cheap!!! Opinion please

We have done split stays and for a group of teenagers IMHO it will be more of a pain than it is worth. That time of year the bus rides are going to be longer regardless of the resort you are staying at and where you are trying to go. We normally stay at OKW and once the bus leaves the resort it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to the MK and about 20-25 to AK. The only thing about a 1 BR is 2 people are stuck on a sleeper sofa so the studio may be much more practical since if they are like my kids cooking is not in the picture . If it were me I think I would go for the studio for the entire week at OKW. It is an easy trip to DTD via boat or bus which for dining options makes it very easy.

The OKW studio has two queen beds which could make it perfect for four grads. The buses are great, never difficult to get a bus to a park. Plus you have the boat or bus to DTD for evenings.

It is easy to get on "a bus" to the parks, they run all the time. It just may be a long wait to get one you want!

The one time we stayed at OKW we rented a car. We drove everywhere except one day my husband took the rental car to the Richard Petty Driving Experience over by the Polynesian. My kids and I decided to take the bus to Animal Kingdom. It seemed like we saw every bus BUT a bus to AK! I would say we waited about 30 mins for one to show up. Had we not had a rental car for that trip maybe I would've been used to waiting for buses... but on that particular day I recall being a bit frustrated.

Okay if they stay at OKW any suggestions on location at the resort, they want to be near the bus, pool and basically centerally located what should I request? Thanks to all and yes my daughter said cooking no way, microwave perfect.

I should listen to my DH they are teens they do not care they will make do! My DD likes the 2 beds vs. sofa pull out so we are leaning toward OKW studio. Yipee more points for DH and me for his b.day in Dec! Other DD is looking at spring break next year! UGH

The issue with the buses is easily resolved if they recognize that they begin pickup (advertised that is) an hour before the parks open. Unofficially the buses begin much earlier. The buses then come approximately every 20 minutes. If they think in those terms then they can minimize their wait for the bus. Remember these are approximate times.

As far as where to stay would depend upon how important it is to be near the main pool/hospitality house. Reservations may be tough at this late stage. But, if you insist, Buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 62, 23, 24, 25, and 26 are convenient to HH and the bus stops. Turtle Pond is very nice with its quiet pool, Turtle Shack and proximity to the bus stop ie. Buildings 40 and 44. Buildings 53, 54, 55, and 56 at Southpoint have a nice quiet pool, access to the bus stop, and the walking path to DTD. Have never stayed in the Miller's Road area so cannot comment with any first hand authority on that area.

OKW had a lot of availability for studios at least that was what MS told me yesterday, we checked quite a few options. SSR, AKV and OKW all had availability without having to waitlist or do split stays in studio and 1 bedrooms. I was bumming when MS told me they had SV views at AKV since I really want to stay there with DH sometime soon. AKV is just to far of the beaten track for the girls so I narrowed it down to OKW ro SSR. DD likes the looks of OKW and the 2 beds in the studio. I need to pull up a map and look at all the locations you gave me and I believe they will let you have 3 requests. Thanks a bunch
