We're going down Jan 15-22 with one other family. We have 4 adults and 6 kids ranging from 11-17.
We have a Grand Villa at OKW for the first night (Saturday) and a Grand villa at BLT for the other 6 nights. Since we probably won't get to OKW until about 4:00PM, not planning on hitting any parks that night, just looking around at OKW since none of us has been there before.
One of the little guys has a prosthetic leg and wheel chair for Disney and I use an ECV. Any recommendations one which building at OKW may be better for us for the one day/night.
We plan on having our luggage shipped to BLT on Sunday morning while we hit the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest calling MS to let them know you will need an accessible GV - (there are only 2 buildings with such accommodation). Building 48 has the only ground floor GV and Building 63 has 2 GVs with elevator access. None or the 2nd floor BRs in OKW GVs are accessible as there is no elevator access to the upper floor.

The first floor of all OKW GVs will have a master bedroom (with King bed) and a Queen sleep sofa and sleeper chair in the living room.

With only 3 accessible GVs, MS will usually get assistance from Special Services to reserve one of the 2 accessible GVs (Building2 48 and 63 each has one). The second GV in Bldg 63 can be held by MS since it is not formally HCA, but does have elevator access to the first floor of the GV. All other GVs in the resort (a total of 27) have their main floor on the 2nd level of the building with no elevator access.

I have always enjoyed staying near the hospitality house.
Its near the pool and restaurant. also transportation ismore acessible.
the nice thing about okw is that the first floor rooms have a ground level private home feel and not a street level motel feel.

None of the GVs near Hospitality House have a first floor access.

If your question is completely dependent upon the disability accomodations that you must have, do what Doc says and requests one of the GV's he has indicated.

If not, buildings 40,41,42 or 43 are our fav for location. Close to Turle pond bus station. Close to the 2nd largest pool- shuffleboard, hot tub, laundry facilities, fast food (dependent upon schedule) available there. The pool is pretty large compared to the other 2 secondary pools - total of 4 counting the large one at hospitality house.

They are far enough removed from bus station and route that it is very quiet.

We stayed across the street from the pool and the hospitality house. Great location and I think OKW has the largest floor plan of all the DVC properties. Hope this helps!:goodvibes

Our favorite GV building is #15, close to HH but not in the HH category. It's got beautiful views of the golf course and fountains, it's a walkable distance to the main pool, store, Good To Go and Olivia's, especially with children 11-17. We've stayed there 2 times and loved it. Of course you can't go wrong with any GV, however I don't know if # 15 has any that are HA.

Good luck to you andI'm sure you've have a wonderful time!

But Bldg 15 isn't handicap accessible. They are on the second floor.

This thread is more than a year old and the OP has long since stayed at OKW. Just sayin'.
