We have a 2BR and 4 studios reserved for the end of May and I'm needing to call and make our building requests pretty soon. To make a decision, I am needing your help answering a few questions:

Which buildings have elevators?

Which buildings are three stories?

One of the families traveling with us will be driving an RV. Can they be parked in any lot or is there a special place they need to park?

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of the Turtle Pond pool area? and is there a hot tub there?

I really appreciate any help you can give me. After all you guys are the DVC experts!!!

:) :) :)

I don't believe RVs can be parked anywhere at OKW. I know that we have heard of several being reported and forced to be parked elswhere....personally, I woldn't want to be looking at one in the parking lot or worrying about driving past it and someone pulling out next to it, or any of the reasons that RVs are specifically forbidden from being parked at OKW.

Buildings in the 60s have elevators, there are only a couple. Just about all the buildings are three stories. There is a sauna at the Turtle pond area, I don't know about a hot tub.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", Karl Marx, pretty sick, huh?

A member asked about RV parking at the annual OKW meeting last year. According to Sonya, the GM at OKW, RVs should be parked at Port Orleans, not at OKW. Have fun!

On 3 separate trips we took out 30 -ft. RV with us into OKW. One of the best places to park was at the turn-around near buildings 53 and 54 off SouthPark Rd. This section is nice and quiet from bus traffic and the pool is nearby. Another good parking spot was a small section of road leading to buildings 49 and 50. It seemed to be out of the way for everything. Another time we parked in front of our building #35. off Old Turtle Pond Rd. We took up 3 spaces but the management didn't say anything. At one time during check-in we were told to park at Dixie Landings. When we told them we had parked at OKW before without any problems, the cast member said to go ahead and try and wait to see if security had any other suggestions. We don't heve the RV anymore (BOO HOO), but I don't miss having to deal with parking the thing at the resort.
Good luck in trying to get all your party together.
I believe all the pool areas had a hot tub.

Buildings 62,63, and 64 have elevators. All quiet pool areas have hot tubs, but only the main pool has a sauna. As for RV's. They are a big hassle because of all the space they take up (numerous parking spaces for one vehicle), and they are a hazard with all the bus traffic. We once stayed at the end of Millers Road. The bus doesn't go down that far, but an RV was parked taking up most of the spots in fron of our building. It meant that the others of us using that building had to park our cars two buildings over. I felt this was very inconsiderate of the RV owner. Someone must have complained, because the next day it had been moved (and no, it was not me who complained).

We stayed in a 2 BR in December on the 3rd floor and the building had elevators. The room # was 6430. It also had a great view of the 7th green of the Lake Buena Vista golf course and was extremely quiet. We loved it!

As stated earlier, parking is available at Port Orleans. I believe you could also park it at Fort Wilderness. Please don't ignore the rules and park it on property at OKW. It is a violation, and very inconsiderate of everyone else!

Oficially RVs aren't allowed and it is inappropriate to have them at OKW due to the structure of the resort, parking limitations and the bus traffic. Now if it's a low occupancy and you can park where buses don't go, you might be ok, call the front desk and ask. I know these are your friends and you were just asking what to do, I was simply clarifying because of some of the conflicting answers above.

As for getting a 2 BR and 4 studios, you may have a problem. I'm not sure why you're interested in the elevators, if it's for medical reasons make sure that MS knows that (ground floor units available also). Otherwise I think if you get the 2 BR and 4 studios in one or adjacent buildings (ANY BUILDING), you're doing good. To add a specific location or building numbers to the restrictions is unreasonable in that situation and likely NOT to work out for you. Decide what's most important to you and I'm sure MS can help.

We were there in 1999 with a 2 BR and 2 studios and it worked great. We got extra non charging keys for the 2 BR so others would have access to the kitchen facilities. My wife and I had the only charging cards.

Thanks for your answers. Just to be clear, we NEVER intended to park an RV at OKW if it is not allowed. That is why I was asking in the first place.

Since there were several different opinons about the parking, I called OKW this morning and spoke with Julie at the Front Desk. They will allow you park in front of your unit to unload your things after check-in. Then they have you park at Port Orleans or Dixie Landings and provide transportation back to OKW. At the end of your stay they take you back to get your RV. She was very polite and friendly.

Also, the reason I was asking about the elevators is because my in-laws will be spending a lot of time in the 2BR unit because they are unable to do much walking at the parks. They would like to have the view from a higher floor; however, they are both 69 y/o and not in good health so an elevator would be helpful. As for the other studio units, the floor location would not matter.

Thanks again for your answers and helping me decide what requests to make.
