OKW Building 62

We have not stayed there, but as you are probably aware, it is one of the 3 buildings that has an elevator, which may come in handy if you are on the 3rd floor! The building is pretty handy to the Hospitality House and the bus stop, general store, main pool and Olivia’s, which is also a plus. I do not know if more of the rooms qualify as accessible for persons with disabilities, or if that matters to you or not. I’m sure someone else will address that. I would guess there might be more “bus noise” than the norm, but that is pure speculation on my part.

I've stayed in bldg 62 a few times, though not by request (just the luck of the draw). I like the location, but there was some bus noise which only bothered me a bit at 2 a.m. (I seem to get the rooms near the end of the building.) It was very convenient though, like beccasmom posted, being near the Hospitality House, et al.

I stayed in studios, and they were not HA.

I'd stay in this building again in a heartbeat!

I stayed in Bldg 62 in May 2005 with my 2 and 5 year old grandchildren and loved the convenience. We were even able to easily take our own luggage to the room and could make the bus stop or pool within a few minutes. It was especially wonderful when we got caught in the rain one night and had to make our way back.

We really like that building along with the others in that area. We spend alot of time at the main pool and it is such a short walk back to the room. I prefer staying there!!

Loved it ! Just stayed there this past Nov. We did have an end unit 1 bedroom and did hear some bus and laundry cart noise but not enough to make for an unpleasent experience. It was literally a 30 second walk to the bus stop/HH/Olivia's. Also, we could sit on our balcony and watch/hear Illuminations. I couldn't believe how well we could actually hear the music during the fireworks and all. Nice view of a small lake. My kids enjoyed feeding the ducks that came right up to our porch every morning.

Keep in mind that there is a lot of demand for that building though. It fits the requests for "close to Hospitality House, close to pool, close to bus, elevator," which are all really frequent requests.

We stayed in Jul 2001 in a studio 6201, I think. The room was very convient for the bus, HH and pool. The bus noise has been mentioned at length on various threads, my opinion, is that I very rarely hear it and it's not been a problem at during any on my OKW stays. OKW generally comes in for "stick" by owners of other resorts, I believe OKW is a beautiful resort that has many many pros and very few cons, as do all the resorts.

OKW you will love it.

I think the beauty of OKW is that no matter where you stay, you will find some really nice things about each location. Even when we got a building that was closed in by vegetation (29 1st floor), we found it to be a beautiful quiet setting for enjoying peace and quiet on the balcony. Don't get too hung up on other people's preferences, because you may find that whatever unit you are placed in by check in might be even better. How would you know unless you tried it. We always take our chances and have never been disappointed. Probably our biggest disappointment was building 64 because of the lack of parking lot, but that too was not a big deal. Take what you get and enjoy. Stressing about where you will get before hand might actually cause you to expect too much or too little.

We were in bldg. 62 a couple years ago and were on the end closest to the hospitality house. We did hear the bus noise, but got used to it after a little while. It is a wonderful location.

OKW generally comes in for stick by owners at other resorts, I believe its a beatiful resort that has many many pros and very few cons, as do all the resorts.

As for the noise.....I only mentioned it because most of the time I never heard any busses at all.....but at bldg 62 we did occasionally. But we never viewed it as a problem......the location and proximity to HH, Olivia's and main pool more than made up for it.
We never requested this bldg either so not sure how we got so lucky ? We checked in on a Tuesday (Nov 2) and had only requested N/S and "water view" on our ressie.

Building 62 is one of the most sought after buildings-it has been refurbished from being a business office and check in area for members to one of the newest buildings with elevators. There is no HA rooms in 62 and unless you are renting a studio, I would not worry about the noise. The view must be terrific from there. It is the closest building to all the activity just across the street from everything. Good luck gettting it however. It is very popular.

Wow. I was there in April but did not pick it as a preferance. I guess I was very lucky - and the cast member was a doll!

I also didn't hear any bus noise whatsoever! I must also be a sound sleeper!

I should clarify. As Pa and Laurajean stated about the lack of noise, we never heard the busses from inside our 1 bedroom villa. It was only when we were out on the porch---then we could see and hear them (and the laundry carts). It's something we hadn't experienced from most of the other buildings we've gotten at OKW (43 & 46 as recent examples).
Bldg 62 gets my vote
