Would you pick OKW with its bigger rooms or BWV as it is closer to most of the parks. DD is 12 and DS 21 (special needs0) but also typical in many ways.

Will you be flying or driving? Do you enjoy using Disney transportation, or are you lost without a car? Will you be cooking a lot or are you confused by the purpose of that stove thingy?

We went to bwv with my sisters and their families in April. BWV was perfect for DH and myself. However, my sisters with their kids wanted to cook a lot, use their cars, and go off property. We toured commando and don't think they ever saw the activities on the boardwalk. My sisters also thought bwv was a little too grand for their relaxed vacation with kids. If I had a do-over, I would have gone for OKW in a minute. It wasn't a total loss. BWV was very convenient to 2 parks.

All three kids were under 10.

You might want to ask the same question over on the DVC Planning board. Good Luck!

How long are you staying? Personally, for shorter trips (less than 7 nights) I want a resort that is "closer to the action." But if I was staying 7 or more mights I would go for the bigger rooms at OKW.

We have stayed at OKW so I know we will not be unhappy. We will have a car as we are visiting my mother for a few days before disney, she lives near Tampa and will be visiting inlaws for a few days after. Also near Tampa but in other direction. I can cook anything even on a camp stove but this trip is only 4 night so I don't really want to spend my time cooking. We were thinking it might be nice to try a different place.

We are doing a split stay at both at the end of this month so I will let you know

For kiddos 12 and 21 ~ I would pick the BWV!

We have stayed at both and my 18 and 13 year old both prefer the BWV. It is close enough parks that the 18 and 13 can go watch Fantasmic if they like without us or go into Epcot Illuminations. Sometimes we are tired and our three little kiddos are ready to go to the room and we let the oder 2 stay and enjoy the night time shows without us since they like to see them over and over again. If possible one of us always trys to stay with them before we go this route.

The Boardwalk is so close to both MGM and Epcot. It makes me feel better knowing they are so close to where we are if we cannot go with them.

The other reason I would still pick it is. The nightlife at the Boardwalk! Being the middle of everything gives you so much more flexibility. If you want to catch Illuminations its right outside your door. Not a bus ride away.

That being said OKW is nice with the larger rooms but it is large and it is a bus ride anywhere you want to go.

:)

I like both resorts for the very reasons that make them popular to those who like bigger space and a tropical/relaxed feeling or a close to the parks/walk/boat to Epcot or MGM resort. Both have community halls for kids, which my kids love. If you think you'll spend time at Epcot or MGM I'd go with BWV. OKW is ideal for more swim/relax time or a quixk boat to DTD>
