OKW availability?

My fiancée and I are planning a trip for December 4-12, 2011. Her family has always been great to me (yesterday her father helped me install a new radiator in my Jeep) so we decided to take them with us. The current plan is to stay at OKW in a 3 bedroom villa because it costs the fewest points so we’ll have more days.

What do you think my chances are for booking this at 7 months? According to the Dec. ’09 availability thread, those rooms are still available for this year at one month away. I know that only means that no one reported being denied a room for those dates, but I take it as a good sign that I’ll have a fair chance of booking at the 7 month window.

I'll book at my home resort as a back-up but I’ll only get 4-5 nights for the same points cost. They would understand if we had to shorten the stay but I would hate to disappoint them because they are so excited.

A grand villa would be tough at 7 months. You might possibly be able to get a 2 bedroom & studio.

Unfortunately it's one of the most popular times of the year to visit, and at 7 months it may be hard to get a GV and even other accomodations. You should book at your own resort at 11 month and then waitlist at OKW for the GV at 7 months.

A GV at any time of year booking the 7 month window is going to be tough, but for early December....nearly impossible.

I think the family would enjoy AKV (my home resort) better but I could only get 5 nights at a 3 BR and I wanted to stay at a different resort.

However, at DebbieB's suggestion, I figured out that I could afford a studio and a 2 BR at AKV and also extend the stay by one night.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the rooms close to each other?

You can always make that your request. We have had good luck with requests like that at OKW.

Here's another thought for you. Book the 2 bedroom and studio at AKV at 11 months, and then TRY to see if there is a GV at OKW available at 7 months. That gives you a possible option, and you could also always waitlist if you wanted to as well. I know how much fun we hve had when we have all stayed together in the same GV, and it really is a blast doing that.

That board is really only good to see what is already booked. Not to see what is available. And even then it's not very accurate.

We bought our DVC in the winter of 2008 for VWL with banked points from the year prior..so we had enough points. The problem was until we closed it was April 1 and our information entered into the system....yadda, yadda, yadda....we weren't able to get into VWL so we "settled" for our second choice OKW a 2BR for us and a Studio for his parents for September. We wait-listed for a GV.

The day before we left, DVC called and asked if we still wanted it. Duh, yeah!

So just don't give up hope.
