Where is this at OKW? Does anyone have any pix? I love the one at VWL. A lot of groceries for the quick bite in the morning. How would you OKW lovers rate this one?

I think OKW is even better than VWL. There was a greater variety of breakfast foods (last Feb. my sister and the girls joined us for an unexpected breakfast) and I ran out anf got bagdls, cream cheese doughnuts and juice. the beverages are a bit pricey compared to a grocery stop, but when I grocery shopped I only picked up what I thought we needed to feed our own family!

Conch Flats General Store is located directly across the walkway from check-in. As the Patsal said, I think it has a nice assortment of food items, and the prices aren't too bad, but certainly not cheap.

The OKW gift shop---called Conch Flats General Store is small, but has an adequate supply of snacks/wine/souveniers/DVC merch etc. It's located in the Hospitality House area---near Olivia's. I'd say it's on par with the store at the WL.
Here's a few pics I snapped this past summer :

This will be our first time staying at OKW this June :sunny: We have stayed at POR for the last 10 years and always enjoyed having breakfast at the food court which we will miss. My daughters were asking if they grocery store at OKW had any frozen items such as MICKEY WAFFLES, that can be prepared in the room?

I'm pretty sure they have the standard Eggo waffles.

Hi Pixiedust ~
Though I don't recall any Mickey waffles at the general store at OKW, your kids can have them for breakfast at Olivia's ---which is the restaurant at OKW. Here's the kids' breakfast/lunch/dinner menu there : http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_okk.htm
Enjoy your stay at OKW ! They'll love the sand castle slide :thumbsup2

My family is staying at OKW in June. What can I expect to pay for a gallon of milk at the Conch Flats General Store? Thanks!

We were just at OKW 2 weeks ago.
I had planned on running off property for grocerys but ended up just using conch flats.

Yes, they are a bit pricy...but well worth the savings in time.
This is what I paid:
a half gallon of milk 2.19
Fresh fruit .69 cents a piece. (very nice quality)
large bag of Lays chips 3.19
8 small boxes of Kellogs cereal 5.86 (I thought this was crazy, but we live in MI near Kellogs)

They also have donuts, bacon, soda pop, juice, sausage, cheese, butter, eggs, cookies, some micro dinners, beer, wine.

I have never heard of frozen mickey waffles Any Where other than a restaurant I wish!!!!!

Kim

Me either---but I wish too. I did just find Mickey-shaped ice cream bars like the ones in the parks at my local grocery store today. :dumbo: :mickeybar
Stores around here have never carried them before. It's the little things that excite me sometimes ;)

Thanks for the pictures of Conch Flats Mia :sunny: Do they have a grab and go area like POR? We love to get the worms in the dirt and the yogurt and granola snacks and about milkshakes and ice cream :rotfl: Goods to go seem to have a limited menu from looking, do you know if the menu on Deb's site is accurate? The serving hours are not listed for Olivis's. Does any know what the serving hours are for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Wondering also if you can do carry-out from Olivia's? Sanilacjack, you would not happen to be the same Kim from "Your Daily Island Fix" would you? :sunny: Thanks :wave2:

Hi pixiedust......
You're welcome on the pics.
I just went to Deb's site and the menu does seem about correct to me. They also have a snack area in the Turtle Crawl with similar food-to-go items.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read that Olivia's discontinued their take-out ? We haven't done take out there since about '02 and they did have it at that time.
As for the breakfast hours, I'm also not 100% on that one. I do believe we've had breakfast there as early as 7:30-8am ? So not sure if they open any earlier than that. As for lunch, I know we arrived at OKW at approx 3:30 pm last summer and they were still serving the lunch menu. Our room was not ready, so we sat in and had a bite to eat. I'm assuming dinner menu starts about 5 pm'ish.....but someone else may have more precise answer to that.

Thanks Maria for all the info. I was wondering if OKW has a quick take and go place to get some food before heading out. Sorta like VWL's Roaring Forks. My daughter loves that place. Also did you guys rent a car on your last trip? I guess I'm wondering if it is really necessary. We will be going to a park everyday and meeting up with friends staying at CBR. How is the bus service? And by the way, thought we were out of the woods this winter on snow. We live in Delaware.....YUK!!!! Thanks, Denise

Degli,
OKW has a snack area for quick to-go snacks called Goods To Go (opens at 7:30 am) : http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_gtg.htm
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_gtgb.htm
So Goods To Go would be OKW's version of Roaring Forks except there is no indoor seating for Goods as there is at Roaring. There are outdoor picnic tables right outside the Goods stand though. Goods is right on the OKW "boardwalk"/pier walk.....near Olivia's.

Also, Pixie.....Deb's site lists the following hours for Olivia's (I checked because I wasn't 100% on that) :
breakfast (7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.), lunch and dinner (11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.).

As for a car, we usually have one. There were 2 stays over the years when we did not and did fine. We found it no different than staying at most other resorts without a car and using wdw bus transportation. There are 4 bus stops scattered throughout the resort and they are not usually anymore than a 30 second to maybe 3-4 min walk to get to from whatever villa you're in. We rarely, over the past 3-4 years, have had to wait longer than 10-15 min for a bus there. Rarely we had maybe a 20 min wait. Of course, having a car at OKW is a big plus because you can park right outside your door. We like this for when we do resort dining or offsite shopping etc. We also prefer to drive to the water parks.

As for the snow/cold etc......I feel your pain Denise ! I know DE got slammed as well ! We really have been spoiled by this winter thus far though. This past weekend was only our second snowfall. Hopefully it's the last !

Thanks Maria,
Appreciate all the info. That snows melting fast!!!!!!

Thank you Maria for all of your info :sunny: I looked at the menus, again :rotfl: , and still did not see the times listed, where did you find them? How crowded does Olivia's seem to get in the mornings, did you ever have a long wait for a table? My family does not like to spend alot of time on breakfast! I am new, as far as posting(have been reading for couple years!), should I have started a new thread :confused3

Not sure about the worms in the dirt.....I don't recall seeing these at Goods or the the Conch Flats store, but I do believe they have yogurt in the store ? I think I saw that there....anyone confirm or deny ? I think you might find granola in the store as well.
I think the longest we've waited for breakfast at Olivia's was about 15 min. Usually it's not too crowded at all. I know the waits used to be longer when they had the Pooh character breakfast there----I sort of miss that (the characters....not the wait !).

As for starting a new thread.....it might not be a bad idea. A new subject line, specific to what you're looking for, might draw more responses ? In a way though, I think your questions about grab and go food items can be tied in with the current subject of the Conch Flats store at OKW. Olivia's and Goods To Go might warrant a new thread just because you might get more varied responses. Hope I was able to help a little pixie. We tend not to shop for our food items at Conch Flats (except for a very few things) due to price so I'm not as familiar as others might be with what they carry. We shop at the local Publix to stock our kitchen.
Again, I hope you enjoy your first stay at OKW this June :cool1:

Agree with Chuck.

And to add the prices @ OKW are the same or maybe even a little less if you compare it to Goodings.
