I'm not quite understanding the bathroom scene with the 2 bedroom OKW.
I know that some of the units have an access to the master bathroom through the laundry room, but they are few.
If you do not have one of these rooms, do you need to actually go into the master bedroom to get to the bathroom?
Is there not a door between bathroom and bedroom?
I'm just wondering how that will work with our family and guests.

we were in a 2 bedroom at OKW a couple of years ago. The unit we were in did not have access to the master bathroom from the hallway. You did have to go into the master bedroom to access the bathroom. It was a bit inconvenient becuase we had my sil amd bil and thier 2 kids staying with us foir the first time. We were disappointed in that set-up. I did understand that some of the newer buldings at OKW had changed the layout but they are further away from the Hospitality House. We were right across the road so our location was great but the bathroom access left a lot to be desired. Good luck!

Actually, the units with an entrance through the laundry room outnumber those without.

That said, you kind of skirt through the edge of the masterbedroom to get into the area where the jacuzzi tub is located. I don't think there is a door here. Then, there is a door that seperates the toilet/shower/second sink area. In units with the second door, this is where that door is located. You can enter and exit the shower/toilet area from the laundry room.

The ones that have the door from the laundry room to the MBA are buildings 30 & up (I think that's the # - somebody please correct me if I'm wrong).

I kind of don't understand if you have a 2BR why would someone need to use your BA when they have one of their own in the 2nd BR? (unless they are using the jacuzzi of course)

Anyway, if its an issue for your family MS could put that request on your ressie.

We love OKW. Have fun!

here's a link to the map of OKW. Even though it may look like a long distance from individual buildings to HH, it's not as far as it looks. We stayed in building 48 on our last trip. DH measured with the van's trip odometer and it was .3 miles from our building to HH (less than 10 minute walk). And the Turtle Pond pool is very nice (has a snack bar).
The official [http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/...tail?id=OKGuestAccommodationDetailPage]Disney site has a page about OKW with a room plan [/URL] (scroll down to the 2 bedroom and hit "view layout").
The plan shows the room without a door from the laundry into the bathroom. In the rooms with the door, it's just straight ahead of the door that goes from the hall to the laundry.

If there were someone sleeping on the pullout in the 1 bedroom side, they would need to go through the master or the studio side to use the bathroom.

I thought I read that the dedicated 2 bedrooms (as opposed to lock off) have access to the master bath through the laundry room. And I also thought you can specifically book a dedicated unit. Is this right?

The extra door is in the rooms numbered above 30, not by whether or not they are dedicated units. The ones without the door were in the first group built. After they had been completed, the door was added to the next group built because of feedback from people about not having a door.
You can have dedicated unit as a request.

I HATE it when CM's give out faulty information! I realize they are only human, but it bugs me. When I made my reservation for a 2 bedroom at OKW for this summer I told the CM I wanted to request a dedicated unit and she told me I didn't need to, at booking you are booked into either dedicated or lock-off. She said they are entirely seperate booking categories and the dedicated units have the bathroom entrance through the laundry room. I think my question must have just stumped her and she wanted to get me off the phone. I guess they can't be expected to know the details of the layout of all the units at all 7 properties.

You can specifically book a dedicated or lock-off, at least they used to be seperate booking categories. However, Sue is correct, the seperate master bath entrance has nothing to do with dedicated or lockoff bldgs 30 and above will have an entrance throguh the laundry room for all 1 & 2 bedroom units, and a 1 bedroom + studio is a lockoff 2 bedroom unit.

Generally, if you have a dedicated two bedroom unit booked, it will not mention it on the ressie, but a lock-off WILL say lock-off on the ressie.

We stayed at OKW this past November and had the bathroom with the door through the laundry room. We were in building number 49. One of the farthest away from HH. We also just booked again for this November and my reservation says dedicated on it. I really don't care if the room has the door through the laundry room at all. My main concern this time was being closer to HH. But then again, as long as I am at Disney, I really don't care. That's as long as I have a nice clean room with everything working!!!!!!! :wizard:

Close to the HH is a very popular request. I checked in 2 weeks ago on a Thursday late morning and they had nothing close to the HH, we ended up in building 35. It wasn't a big deal, we had a car. Most checkouts are on Friday, most checkins are on Sunday, so you would have a better chance checking in on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Well then I guess my chances are a little better since we are checking in on a Saturday. But then again, like I said, it really doesn't matter as long as it's clean and everything is working. I'll be in WDW!!! :rotfl2:

::yes::
We were in building 48 on our last trip. According to the map, it looks pretty far (and when we were driving there the first time, it looked pretty far). But, DH used the trip odometer on our rental van to check the mileage and it turned out to be only 0.3 miles. Not a bad walk at all, and for my FIL who can't walk distances, we were right across the street from a bus stop. The rest of us walked to HH numerous times during our stay (no more than a 10 minute walk). FIL took the bus back and forth.

I think folks really limit their OKW experience by requesting "close to HH". Not only will you not have the extra door to the bathroom, but you are severely limiting yourself from getting some of the best views and experiences OKW has to offer. For example: buildings 45, 46, 55, 56, 21, and 22 have some of the best views at OKW, yet if you request near HH, you wont get those. You might, however, get building 11, which has no view, or building 62 or 63 which are very near the entrance/exit with a LOT of bus and car traffic.

Just FYI, buildings 62-64 are the only buildings with elevators, if this is important. I requested a 2BR in one of these for our upcoming trip in November because we have a 75 yr old with us and stairs would be difficult (and I prefer not to stay on ground level).

To OP: you still have time to ammend your request for room assignment! Of course the disclaimer always exists; they will try to honor requests but "cannot guarantee." But....

Sometimes, not getting your 1st choice works out! Last year, I requested the Springs section at SSR so as to be close to the main pool and the Carriage House (hospitality bldg.). We wound up in the Congress Park section with a knockout view of (and short walk to) DD. AND, it was cool and rainy for the whole week, so we didn't even get to use the pool after all! Plus, with all the dining options at DD, we only ate once at Artist's Palette. If we HAD been given my 1st choice, I would have been disappointed!

Good Luck! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for your advise.
I don't really care about my location as much as having a separate entry to the bathroom. Our 3 teenage kids are bringing guests. We have the master bedroom and the girls have the 2nd bedroom and the boys have the LR.
I was asking because it may be akward for boys to use the facilities without the door throught the laundry room.
I'll request a high numbered unit.
Thanks!

Rather than a "high number unit", just request exactly what you want....second door to the bathroom.

Not being a DVC owner, I can't open the link to the floor plan at OKW.
Can someone cut and paste it for me?

Thanks!

The extra door is next to the dryer in the laundry room and across from the shower in the bathroom.
