OKW 2 bedroom request

I originally had a one bedroom through an exchange, but recently upgraded to a 2 bedroom (had a few more people join) . . . my question is:

Can I fax in a room request to OKW like you can for non-DVC resorts? We did have it added that for Medical Resons we needed a non-smoking unit.

I would also like to request a top floor and I guest something close to the HH and main pool (first time traveling with kids & I'm sure they will be living in the water when we aren't at the parks). I also figured by being close to the HH then we would be close to the first bus stop and also the arcarde, so the girls can play and not have that far to go.

Our nieces are 10 & 11 and this is their first trip to Disney World and they are celebrating their birthdays to those ages while we are there. Also, their mom will be joining us, and it is her first trip, and we want it to be special for her.

I know I have a non-smoking room listed, but are there smoking area's around the resort, because my SIL smokes & we told her she couldn't smoke on the balcony or in the room, but she could smoke in designated area's. Was I correct on this?

If you are going through DVC, they have posted a notice on the Member Board asking that people NOT fax the resort directly. They want all requests to go through MS and say they will not honor any other requests.

There are no particular designated smoking areas at OKW. I know I would appreciate it if your SIL didn't smoke on the balcony (although some people do). Smoke tends to "hang" in Florida and can bother neighbors.

I'm okay with people smoking out the "front" door. There are benches in most of the courtyard entrance areas. Some people disagree about this. Basically, "outside" should be okay for her to smoke.

We are making our exchange through Interval International - Does the non fax request apply to people exchanging into the property and also cash visitors?

When I asked for request to be put on our exchange through MS - I was told they couldn't do that since we went through II; although I was able to get the Medical non smoking request put on it.

We told my SIL that she is absolutly prohibited from smoking on the balcony because the entire building is non smoking and the smoke would get into other's room's if they had their balcony doors open!

go ahead and fax your request - the only problem would be getting near the HH -

nonsmoking and high as possible - shouldn't be a problem - most of OKW is nonsmoking.

there is also a arcade and just about everything else at the Turtle Pond area - so don't be disappointed if you don't get near the HH. I don't happened to like the Turtle Pond because I like to snack on hamburger (not serviced here) not the hot dogs and that mexican things that is - taco?.

there are 4 bus stops and 4 pools at OKW - so you should get close to one of them.

on your exchange request from II there should be a front desk phone number - I would call that since you don't have access to MS. ask them if they want to take your request over the phone or do you need to fax them.
