OKW 2-bdrm villa question

I have rented DVC points for a 2-bedroom villa at OKW for a week in December. The plan is to have my Dad and Stepmother stay in the Master, my husband and I in the second bedroom, and my sister and teenage nephew in the Living Room. We would like to have a villa with a bathroom entrance through the Laundry Room, so my sis and nephew don't have to go through a bedroom to use the loo. I understand this is available in the villas numbered 30 and up. When I booked with David's, they said I would be in the HH area category. However, those villas won't have the bathroom setup I'd like. Does anyone know if I can change my category so I can get a villa in another area? My Dad has some mobility issues and sometimes uses a scooter in the Parks, but he can walk 10-15 minutes or so if he has to to get to a bus stop or HH. Folks on this Board seem to like buildings 35, 45-46 and 55-56. I'm not sure our situation qualifies us for "medical needs" for the buildings with elevators. It's our first time at OKW and I've already learned so much from this Board! I appreciate any advice you have to share about all this. Thanks!

The near HH category is buildings 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. No elevator buildings. I would contact David's to verify that you have a near HH reservation and if so what they can do. In most cases once you accept the reservation it is final.

Since the point requirements are exactly the same I can't imagine that they would deny your request to change categories.

Now if it was the other way around and you wanted near HH.... I can see where that could be a problem. Near HH is usually hard to get and books up fast.

Best of luck!

The reservation would have to canceled and redone.

Of course. But if there is availability at this early date that shouldn't be a problem.

Then again I am not very familiar with David's policies.....since they aren't actually cancelling the reservation I would hope this request could be accommodated. It is kind of a annoyance for people sleeping in the living room to have to barge into each of the bedrooms to access a bathroom.

With "medical needs", I wouldn't get 45-46. They are a longer walk to the South Point bus stop. You are almost midway between Southpoint and Turtle Pond in those buildings. 55 is at the end of South Point so there would be a bit of a walk to the bus stop there, but 56 would be good. 35 is right across the street from the Turtle Pond bus stop.

If your Dad needs a scooter in the resort, you'll want 62, 63 or 64 or a first floor villa. The rest don't have elevators to upper floors.

They would have to contact the member they are working with for your reservation to cancel and rebook. It's not adding a request. David's doesn't do the actual reservation, they are just a broker. I would contact them tomorrow, you are now under 7 months and December is popular. Let us know what they say.

Not sure about your bathroom question. In a 2 BR villa, each bedroom has its on bathroom. You knew that, right?

You do have to cancel and rebook. Asking the member to do twice the work for same money. That being said I did accommodate a renter who said it didn't matter if it was Jambo or Kidani. I booked Jambo then they said we were hoping for Kidani! Ugh!

The difference is buildings 30 and higher have a second entrance into the master bathroom through the laundry room. Buildings 29 and under, those sleeping in the living room have to go through one of the bedrooms to get to a bathroom.

I called David's (who have been great and I highly recommend them). They said all OKW 2-bdrm villas have a bathroom that can be accessed without going through a bedroom. I was skeptical, since I've heard otherwise. So I called OKW directly. They also said all of their 2-bdrm villas have a bathroom you can get to without going through a bedroom. Since David's confirmed that we are booked in the HH Area category, there's not much I can do about it anyway! I don't know what the situation will be when we arrive, but -- either way -- I'll be at Disney with my awesome family and we'll have a blast. I'll let you know what I discover, though!

Unless they changed it with recent renovations, I can confirm that is not true. I stayed in 1 bedrooms in buildings 26 and 28 and there was not the second entrance.

That is absolutely NOT true. Only buildings 30 and higher have access to a bathroom without going through a bedroom.

The problem when you call a resort directly is you are not talking to someone at the resort in most cases, but, rather, someone at the call center. And that person might be in Topeka, KS and never even been to WDW. And David is in Canada, so some of his employees may not have stayed at OKW either.

At OKW, only bldgs. numbered 30 or higher (Turtle Pond and Southpoint, plus the three newer buildings - 62, 63 and 64) have the access to the bathroom through the laundry room. HH area, Millers Road and Peninsular Road do not have the door in the laundry room.
